I thought Sony had a no F2P trophy policy, but I could be mistaken. In game achievements would be fun, extremely low priority for me, but kind of fun.
Most tankers are like sand people. They frighten easily, but will quickly return...and in greater numbers.

I personally think in-game achievements would be pretty awesome. Speaking from my experience with other games, they definitely encourage me to play more and engage in other playstyles I normally wouldn't mess with!
I'll rarely go out of my way to get them, but I do agree low hanging fruit like "Get 25 kills with a shotgun" would get me to roll with a shotgun a little, but you guys accomplish the same thing when you give out free suits, guns, etc....

It has a premium option though too

Mercs shouldn't care about ribbons or medals because mercs are black market. They do what others cannot. The pride is in the pay, the work and the conquered. Not some medals and ribbons.
A valid point, I'll gladly take 100K ISK for 100 shotgun kills or something . You can use the concept of in game achievements in a merc sort of way. First of all we need a searchable merc profile. All your in game accomplishments would be listed there, call them commendations or something. Thus lets say I had commendation for X amount of kills with gallente scout and one for X amount of clones revived, X amount of damage repaired, etc...
If I apply to some corporation they can search my record and along with my employment record they could see what commendations one has and get a picture of what you like to run and a small glimpse into the style of game I play. It would also show faction standing, KDR, and whatever stats the community and devs think is pertinent.
