Now I know that scouts love murdering with their OHK (sometimes) nova knives with their charge-ups. There are also the R1 and R3 taps that deal less damage but quickly. So, is there a difference in the damage dished out from each? R1 taps allow me to land hits more rapidly than the R3. So by going by R1, I can preserve precious stamina and use a damage mod instead of a myrofibil to multiply the damage dished out by both charged and non-charged hits. If there is absolutely no difference, there is no point to use R3 when equipped with NK's. |

r3 is mele, the same mele that you get no matter what weapon or equipment your holding in your hands
aka it does your dropsuits mele damage amount, and while you can mele while holding novaknives it doesnt do novaknife damage when you mele, only when you tap r1 |

Is there any difference in damage output per shot? |

yup, two knives, so you can miss with one slash and not the other. Also means you can move with a moving target to increase chances of both hitting. |

yes, one deals mele damage (a dropsuit stat) and the other is a novaknife double stab that deals novaknife damage.
basically r3 does the same amount of damage no matter what weapon or equipment your holding in your hands, and that damage is determined by what suit your wearing rather then what weapon your holding. |

Tapping r3 is a melee attack. Based solely off of your dropsuits melee damage. Tapping r1 is a standard nova knife swing doing listed nk damage per knife (so 90 x2 if you hit with both knives for bsc) Holding r1 is your charged attack which does 2.5x listed dmg per knife (so 500 per knife for proto)
Nova knife proficiency and suit bonuses stack multiplicitavely before damage mods which are factored before charging. |

Ok, thanks. So a R1 strike is the NK's stat damage X2, which beats most suits' melee damage. And skill factors apply to the R1 strike as well. I heard from some who used R3 for NK'ing back then. Guess they were misled.
Conclusion: Level up your NK's and stack Damage mods for the most effective damage output, using R1 for charging and taps. Using standard melee with stimulants does little. Thanks again you guys. |
