There is also input lag though I think this is intentional to compensate for the effects of adaptability. Also I've yet to get invaded (I'm at the point where I can invade myself), which I believe is due to the fact that there is also a limited amount of human effigies which ties into my next bit but there is only a limited amount of spawns for the enemy, meaning that if you lost 10K+ worth of souls, your character will be 10K+ souls shorter than it could have been. It also has the effect of making it easier by allowing you to clear out areas in front of bosses before fighting the boss.
I haven't had any troubles with hit detection. Occasionally I have a problem with input lag but not too often (I did start as the Explorer which has 12 ADP at start and then leveled it to 20 though).
Effigies are not a problem. Don't use them until you actually need them (like right outside a boss fight for summon help) and you shouldn't run out. I currently have like 20 sitting in my inventory.
For pvp purposes, it would probably be best to use a single effigy then always have a Ring of Life Protection equipped. It does the same thing as Rings of Sacrifice in DkS but you can repair them for 3k souls at the blacksmith after they break so you never lose your humanity (or souls for that matter). You lose a ring slot but I'd say never having to worry about losing your humanity is worth it.
The bigger problem from what I've heard with pvp is the difficulty of obtaining cracked red eye orbs. There are no merchants with an infinite amount and the only way of reliably and sustainably obtaining them is being in BoB and winning duels with other BoB members.
The limited respawns is ****ing annoying. I wanted a bow dropped by a specific enemy but after 15 runs they still wouldn't drop a bow. |

I'm also afraid the PVP scene in this game is going to wither.
Brotherhood of Blood members have to win duels to get invasion items which sharply decreases the amount of invasions they will be doing.
Blue Sentinels only are summoned when someone is in the Way of Blue and that person is invaded. The Way of Blue is a covenant that people will join if they are new to the game and are unsure of the mechanics and would like a bit of help. Once they are not new to the game, chances are they will join a different covenant on their current character and any new ones they create. This combined with the reduced invasions from BoB members will reduce the number of summons Blue Sentinels will get.
The Rat Covenant only operate in a single area that people will easily bypass after their first run thanks to the ability to warp.
The Bell Covenant only operate in two areas but will probably have a better chance of invading than the Rat Covenant will with being invaded.
Dueling will be fine with the red sign soapstone and the dragon covenant (they still do duels for scales, right?) but the rest seems like it will die after a while.

@Knight The lack of reusable invasion items is a big problem. There should at least be a non-cracked red eye orb.
Invaders shouldn't be allowed to use estus/life gems since they can use the environment to buy time for healing miracles/pyromancies while also having free reign of choosing when and how to attack (unless the host is near the end of the area). However, duelers should have full access to healing items (In fact, I thought they did already).
Poise seems to be broken at least in pvp. Someone mentioned that their 80+ poise build was instantly stunlocked by a dagger.
@bunnywink A Soul vessel when used with the retired firekeepers lets you redistribute your points but you can't delevel. I've heard using one without the firekeepers resets you to your base stats. |

From what I've heard, the DRK BNS used by hexes scales off the lowest stat between INT and FTH. In other words a 20/20 build would have better hex power than a 30/10.
Also, stats from the wikidot: Boss Weapons |

True Adamance wrote:What are hexes cast off of. I understand they are inverse miracles that were the product of an excommunicated cleric, and thus combine less of the true tenets of Miracles, being the faith in the Gods (of flame from DKS) and meld in the user or the users owned souls.
Hexes are either cast by staves or chimes (each hex will list which it needs). I believe there is a catalyst that could cast all hexes (as well as sorceries and miracles) but it isn't the strongest catalyst and is fairly late game. |

@jerrmy Yeah. It looks like soul memory will also become a problem for sustained pvp but I'm still not sure just how much it affects. Does it affect co-op and red soapstone/dragon summons? Or is it just true invasions (the eye orbs)? Is it a preference system that just makes it more likely to connect to people within your memory range? Or is it a hard lockout like the level restrictions?
I know about the shrine, but it's more inconvenient than the rings. You can get two rings of life protection (and one of soul protection) which means you can go 2-3 lives before needing to revisit the blacksmith whereas the shrine requires you to return every time you lose humanity. |

Someone was doing some poise testing over on GameFAQs. Apparently poise isn't broken. It's just not really viable.
