There you go, it was based upon having achieved racial parity. Now that we will have racial parity, a refund will occur in order to allow people to properly fill in roles that they were forced to use off-race suits for. For many players this is no big deal, but for people that role-play a bit, this is a VERY BIG DEAL. In the end, racial parity is the only reason why the refund is occuring. Straight from CCP's mouth.
You are probably correct but the point still stands that a respec for Weaponry and possibly Dropsuit Upgrades could have also gone by.

An Amarr Commando that would have preferred to be a Caldari Commando from the start does have a penalty if they originally had their points in Assault Rifles rather than Rail Rifles. If you are not getting a bonus that everyone else does, it can be seen as a penalty. For me, I do wish there was at least a Weaponry respec for the above stated reason.
What will be interesting is if there will be any kind of refund for Racial Parity in weapons. At the moment, there is 100% Racial Parity for 'rifle' weapons; Rail, Assault, Combat, and Scrambler. There is no Racial Parity for Heavy Weapons, AV Weapons, or even Specialty Weapons (say Mass Driver, Plasma Cannon, Laser Rifle). I am curious what happens if there comes a time when there is but it is added slowly over time. I mean, an all at once shot is really obvious that a refund should happen; see Dropsuit Command. But if it is done slowly, in small increments? That is more interesting. |
