All they did is release a couple dev blogs with content we knew was coming, and yet people have already decided to leave? A dropsuit respec aint much but it should keep the game interesting 4 a while. All the other stuff will come soon just be happy we finally have all the racial variants in.

I think it's because the respec isn't a full one. I'd like a refund for the pistols but I could live without one

Simple: They gave a respec. Now people arguing against it are mad at CCP for granting it and people arguing for it are mad because it's only a partial respec. And of course Dust-Forum-Warriors don't like reasonable compromises. They want all or biomass their chars.
Oh, and of course they always say CCP never listens to them when they don't get what they want, not recogniozing that their subjective opinion is not what the whole community thinks.

Human nature. They have done studies with children and have found that negative feedback is delivered by parents and teachers over 10 times as often as positive feedback. When people are happy, crickets, when people aren't, gnashing of teeth. This lends itself to preemptive griping.

I guess I should add that I think they came up with a good compromise and along with the event, which is fairer to new players than a respec, it was a pretty good solution.

As a Logi going to Commando, it means i should lose more than 10 Million SP (Half of my SP) in equipements secondaries etcetc....
I'm not going to lose half of Life SP (More than Half a year.) because CCP is to stupid to see the problem with a partial Respec.
Only suits i'm using are Amarr.
The only Amarr released things is a Scout suit dedicated to....stamina. USELESS AND BORING.
Oh and they didn't fixed Vehicules, so what the point about new suits / weapons / bonus while 90% of battles si going to be in OP Tanks ? They even reduced AV grenades.
That's why.
1.8 is bringing lot of things that's kinda cool, but afterall..... Nothing intresting for me. Stuck with Logi role i don't wanna play.
So i stop playing (I don't wanna Slayer Logi.). |

Because 1.8 was supposed to be a "Reborn".
The only day we could have a full Respec because Full Racial Line up is out.
In the end it's a ridiculous respec.
My logi role maded me spend more than 8/10 million SP in equipements/secondaries.
I wanted to go commando, but now i'm stuck with Logi role i don't wanna play, give me a reason to still playing while they want me to lose half of my SP and 6 months play to finally play in something i on't want... |

A number of reasons that all pertain to balance, for me. Granted, most of these are just speculation and I could very well be wrong (albeit I was -totally- right about the Rail Rifle before it was released and had a false sense of security when it was later changed).
1) Assault Rifle got nerfed into the dirt. The Assault Combat Rifle and Assault Scrambler Rifle both out-range and out-DPS it, with the ACR actually having lower fitting requirements. All of the AR variants got needlessly nerfed despite their not having any popular use for many, many builds.
2) Ion Pistol looks flimsy consider it overheats after a single charged shot, has less damage per round, less range and -more- fitting requirements than the Scrambler Pistol. I'd like to believe that the charged shot would make it awesome but the Scrambler Pistol already dishes out 300% - 400% more damage on a headshot so, there's that. Also there's the fact that it has a sharpshooter skill which reduces the dispersion and I can't help but wonder how much dispersion it's going to have with 20m optimal range...
3) SMG. The Magsec SMG out-ranges and out-DPSes it. 'nuff said about that.
4) Gallente Assault dispersion reduction. I'm a strong believer that having less dispersion isn't exactly something you (always) want in CQC fights and this pretty much stacks with the sharpshooter skill for other weapons. I'm in wait-and-see mode for this because they could have increased the dispersion on the AR to compensate but even that would be a bad move considering how hard it was nerfed.
5) Gallente Commando looks like a more shield-tanky Amarr Commando. The bonus to damage is nice but the slightly increased speed and 1HP armor repair/sec doesn't really offset the additional armor that the Amarr Commando has when they have the same slot layout. As previously mentioned the ASCR out-performs the AR anyway so you're not exactly losing anything when both are dishing out primarily shield damage from Proficiency skill bonuses.
6) AV vs Vehicle balance is getting hit pretty hard. Reduced grenades, weapon proficiency changes and the nerf to damage mods isn't doing this argument any favors and we're likely to see an imbalance if there wasn't already one.
Just to name a few that PERSONALLY affect me. Anyway, sorry for the long-winded post, I'm just very very wary of how this is going to progress and I'm not exactly optimistic. But, you know what they say - always gets worse before it gets better.

What is that full racial line up you're talking about? It's there with 1.8? Well then: Let me jump out of my Amarr MCC, call in a Minmatar Dropship into which I jump using my Heavy suit outfittet with a Caldari Heavy weapon.

You wanted to play Commando... and specced into Logi... with everything you had. Do you want me to tell you outright that this was stupid or shall I say it with more tactfulness? Besides that: Your commando suit still has an equipment slot. You can still use equipment.

Because history has shown CCP Shanghai isn't very good at QA or testing in general. Every patch they release or change something that is so blatantly wrong or OP that it breaks the game.
CCP you better nail 1.8, as it stands 1.7 is a total disaster.

There is also the "I started as a Commando and I still want to be a Commando but I want to be Minmatar." They are not changing roles but now they 'have' to use a Minmatar weapon. If they had points in Assault Rifle, it is 'wasted' for their Commando now because it is blatantly worse to be a Minmatar Commando with a non-Minmatar weapon that Minmatar Commando + Minmatar Weapon. Same argument for any of the Assaults now.

I think some of the artwork on some of the new suits looks goofy. Caldari Heavy looks like a fatter version of me in a bomb-squad suit and Gallente Heavy has a forehead like a finishing trowel. Will be interesting to see how the look once they are rendered and moving around. |

i just go with it now but understandably some people are upset.. if i had more invested in ground pounding i probably would to. but the respec for me just means i get to throw a chunk of suit command SP i dont really use towards finally completing my dropship
ppl need to see it from CCPs stance to because if they give in to full respec demands they open their can of worms to entitllement that every time we have a major update they have to repeat the full respec since they did it this time, not saying i dont support a full respec but i understand their stance on it

I can't say I hate 1.8 yet and I am really looking forward to trying out Cal commando and seeing if it plays how I think it will. However, I know CCP has f*cked up balance with the Sentinel suits and I think it will be a shame if we do indeed see a game where everyone is either a fatty toting an HMG or a stick man running around invisible (though I'll be doing the invisible stick thing some myself)
The respec thing doesn't effect me too much becasue I get to switch out of one of my logi suits. Yeah I would have liked to get back the SP I put into things I don't plan on using much like MD and flaylock, but its not that big a deal for me...but I have 30 million SP with a couple more to come if we have a successful weekend as a community.
Most tankers are like sand people. They frighten easily, but will quickly return...and in greater numbers.
