Looking at http://www.protofits.com and theory crafting fits I wondered if I could make a heavy that isn't totally blind on the battlefield. Running Logi and Scouts I have the two best natural passive scan precisions on the field and I feel blind when I run anything worse. The new heavies have improved scan precision and can detect a baseline medium frame with Scan Precision 5 (49.5 dB) and with one complex precision enhancer that drops down to 39.6 to pick up those that are dampening some. Add Range Amplification 5 and you can see 15 meters.
Looks like profile skills won't be wasted on the heavy suits in 1.8.

A little off topic but they reduced the scan precision on logis to 45 and increased the scan range to 15. The assaults now have 50 also.

Not off topic at all and the Logistics were always 5 under the Assaults for precision. I have Assaults run past me all the time when I'm in my Logi suit as I have dampening trained up. Some people rely on the TACNET way too much.

Nah. You can catch Medium frames who don't even profile bra but I wouldn't bother too much with running precision modules on a Heavy too much effort and room hogged for so little reward.
Take the easy way out, active scan.

I seriously doubt I'd put a precision enhancer on a heavy frame but I'll definitely be training precision to 5 soon.

I was thinking that it would be viable to put another precision enhancer in there. Even if people are dual tanking there is some leeway for it.

To be honest, I don't think enough advantage is gained from using passive scans on heavy or medium suits if you aren't using the modules. If you're already a scout, then might as well try it on mediums/heavies, but if I were only a medium or heavy frame user, I wouldn't bother skilling the range/precision skills up in the hope that they gave me a passive "edge" over other people.
Now if you're using modules on a logi, you could make a fairly decent passive scan suit, but the scout does it much better with fewer slots for the modules.
If you were to use precision enhancers on a heavy, don't bother with the complex since anyone who dampens would be under 36dB anyway. You may as well use basic/militia, as that is precise enough to let you detect mediums or heavies that have up to Profile Dampening 5 but aren't using any modules. Scouts will evade you regardless. |

32.72 dB with two enhancers. Kind of an odd fit for a Sentinel but could prove interesting for a solo heavy. I'm not going to make a career of running heavy but it wouldn't hurt to have a few fits to play around with.

Currently I'm about 50/50 between Scout and Logistics. I've been lazy finishing off the profile skills.

O..I was actually talking about the logi suit with the range reduction and precision enhancement. Basically increased precision is only useful if you have that range. For a heavy I think it is still useful especially if you get caught alone.

Seems they did adjust Assault and Logistic profile and precision. It is currently 50/55 on Assault and 50/50 on Logistics going to 50/50 and 50/45. Same difference but down 5 points for both. Protofits.com doesn't have the updated medium frame numbers yet.

Not to mention the stamina recovery/innate armor repairs/various stats not under cpu/pg ect.

I would think Assaults should have better precision. A Logi's job is to support his team, and should be protected by his team members. Its the assaults job to run around and kill stuff, and better scan precision would further define that role better. Logis don't really need to see bad guys, they need to see good guys to help. |

It's a good topic to theory craft as it were. I've been bringing up the use of Precision Enhancers as replies in several topics for awhile now. But it is wonderful seeing someone start a thread on the topic. Thank you Reav Hannari.
They are definitely looking as an alternative now that Complex Damage Mods are facing (Game Architectural) Tiericide.
My biggest interest in them is if they can get the Scan Precision low enough to detect Remote Explosives and the such. Not going to complain if it means getting more chevrons or it somehow turns aim-assist on my Frame. If an Enchanted Mod could do the job I'll be thrilled with the ISK and fitting savings.
Here, have some candy and a Like. :-)
