Well, to the devs and cpm for not giving a good enough voice, thanks for the 1/2 a$$ed respect.
This essentially entails, that those who shield tank, are still gana be inferior to those of armor tankers b/c if you want to change from shield to armor tank you need to invest an extra 1.8M SP to do that besides just switching your suit (which you are given). So this allows armor tankers an extra 1.8M cushion to use; and you are still leaving people with wasted/useless SP from weapons/skill they no longer want/need pending on what they are changing their suit.
To you DEVS (and be nice for an actual dev to answer), what was your logic/reasoning behind only giving a dropsuit respect. Did you even consider the point of people changing entire classes that makes what they have null in void? As if I was to want to go from my Mini assault, to say an Gal heavy, my nanohives, uplinks, all weapons etc would be "useless". As at this point id need to invent around 3-4M sp into armor skills and heavy weapons (as not type to run LW in a heavy suit).
So yeah, this may not be the most proper or cordial way to get a DEV response, but I'd be very much interested in how you came up with this decision?

Well, it was only the dropsuits that changed. Seems simple enough to me. Or do you also want a weapon respec and an everything else respec just because? Simplest example: You skilled plates and armor reps each to 5 for your Amarr Sentinel while you waited for your Caldari or Minmatar Sentinel. Now, that SP would be better spent on the relevant shield skills instead. Who deliberately CHOOSES to do that? Why refund the SP at all if you aren't going to let people get the skills that correspond with that suit? All it does is give high SP players who tried a bunch of suits the chance to reclaim that SP and choose a single suit, while shafting people who actually were patiently waiting for their races BACKLOGGED suits to come out. Classic CCP Buy our Boosters
Thank you from another Vet who understand what im getting at ... +1

see DF post, about how much of a fair compromise this is
As ive said before i respect both Kain and Nova on CPM, but as a whole CPM is a 100% let down on this matter, as i know for a fact they were pushing for a 100% infantry respect and anything short would be wasted, based on what both me and Dust Fiend showed

Classic CCP Buy our Boosters Million Clone challenge, even without a booster, if we hit the benchmark, will net you an extra 1 mil sp. Add to that your weekly cap and the sp from the heavy event and bam, soon as 1.8 drops you'll have enough to get your shield tanking skills up (while still having the extra armor for a little extra tank). HTFU and quit being a ***** about it.
This has nothing to do with HTFY and stuff. I have the the spare SP to do it; but it is the principal of the thing, as i can look past myself and see others in the community. Those who aren't big vets with 20+M sp, a full respect is something that'd of benefited them much more
Come back when you've spent 2 years on this game and ill listen to you then
