I've only been commited to playing Dust 514 since it's May release, but I've visited this Fourm Community long enough to know not to try arguing or disecting people's desires for a LUXURY-LEVEL RESPEC every time new combat aparatus is introduced in New Eden. CCP mercilessly (deliciously devilshly) created this game to be "Persistent", not "Cyclic" or "Restartable" like other games could arguably be thought of.
I stopped wishing for a "do-over" for my mistakes or oversights long ago. Have no illusions, Celesta, whatever small crumb you seek to make you advance in your career, you're gonna have to CRAWL THROUGH THE "DUST" to get it.
I stopped fantasizing about being able to spend the last two months using my SP to unlock 'the Advanced impulse recoiler', if only the devs hadn't waited until NOW to introduce the 'new Gallente recoiler Gun', and let me waste all that SP on other stuff.
Celesta, wake the hell up!--this is not Call of Duty--this game is a LITTLE about slugging matches, but MOSTLY about creating your little clone sprout and steering her through a long CAREER. Your clone makes progress only by investment-with-risk. "Risk" means some of your neural training ends up a bad investment, where you can't give the education back (just have to consider it "also-skilled-in" on your combat resume).
....a Respec for the Dropsuit Command category, is CCP throwing me more mercy than I've learned to ever expect in this game. And LOL, I've kinda learned to LIKE the abuse. I threw my leg over this horse because it threatened to be a challenge, and I kinda love the bucking.
Uprising 1.8 is EPOCRAPHAL... it's the horse trying its newest powerful, rear-kicking BUCK. It is NOT thorwing me off.
Finally a Kasbar market is opening up for me to spend HOURS socializing and swapping my HEAPS of salvage for useful gear that some other gal doesn't even have the neural SP to operate.
Finally the performance of a "Breach" weapon more closely aligns with what 'breach' means: short overwhelming violence aimed at an open door to wither only the defenders nearest the other side of the doorway, and give buddies a chance to get through the door with longer-reach weaponry.
Finally Add-on damage modifiers that WERE being used to rapidly execute opponents with minimal effort, is being restrained enough to try to give a player time to ENJOY SOME benefit from this thing called a "Dropsuit" during a 1-v-1 gunfight.
Just by the artwork of the suits in the dev blog, I can see a MAMMOTH amount of design work and detailing. The Caldari are my enemy, but OH God, their new light suit looks so SEXY, I almost don't want to shoot a guy who's wearing one. The Gallente heavy's headgear is like some beautiful exotic sea manatee, and the Minmatar's facial detailing has finally reached nightmare-villiainous appearance: I am EAGER to have any one of these splendid looking suits march right up to me on my HD monitor and smoke me.
There is an immense amount of labor that's been done here since 1.7. I'm a lover of artwork, and there's a lot of art here to applaud. But I got hooked on Dust because it's boldly (cursingly) CHALLENGING. I say the "Shite" word out loud more when I play this game than any other in my collection. With 1.8, I know I'll have to happily go out and buy more soap for my mouth.
Yaaah! The challenge is back!
