Excuse my Eve-nerd but why are dust elections not in process now like Eve? I know Saberwing was super excited back in November 2013 about coming elections and all the amazing candidates (full disclosure I despise elections so I am mocking saberwing).
That said, I accept elections are going to happen but why aren't they? CCP Logibro you are in charge here whats up?
Why the desire to keep cpm0 still? They were tasked with white paper -done and a 6 month term - done
Also I remember when cpm0 said that they wouldn't run for cpm1 yet I dont see any statement about that. More so it seems they are all secretly waiting for the right time. So they have an advantage?
what say you cpm1 fanbois?

I'd vote for Kain and Hand if the CPM0 tried to run again, otherwise there's a need for new blood.

I'd like to see one, maybe two max, CPM0 holdovers in CPM1, just to ensure no progress made last year is lost in transition to the new CPM. However, CCP's already said there will be a bit of a transition period before the CPM0 members are cast out from the heavens and sent down to live with the mere mortals, after the CPM1 members are elected.
I'd like to be your CPM1 candidate

I think you nerds missed the point of my thread so I'll simplify it. Dear ccp logibro why haven't we started the election process yet? Not being a tin foil because cpm0 has fulfilled term and responsibility. So whats the hold up in elections?
I have no issue with cpm0 people running for cpm1 as I have seen who is running and the more the merrier.
Let me guess voting is still in beta?

Put simply the hold up is the current plan for CCP Rouge to share his vision and thoughts for a road map and future of Dust 514 with his first Dev blog since his introduction to the community back in October.
Once that happens and the community and the candidates themselves know what the jig is, then they'll announce the election dates. With it increasingly looking likely that the date for 1.8 is either the 18th or 25th, I would surmise that the details will be made then.
So my considered guess is late March with the election dates being the middle two weeks of April and the announcement of the successful candidates during the Dust Keynote at Fanfest, which if the same as last year will be on Thursday May 1.

I suppose it is of a bit of concern. I am considering throwing my lot in as a CPM1 candidate but am lacking the information, certainly not the resolve, to make the informed decision.
If travel plans have to be made, time is required to make them.

Dennie made a wise observation over here:
Quote: Part of the problem in answering questions such as this right at this moment is that the candidates, like the community, is very much in the dark as to what the road map that CCP Rouge has in mind for Dust 514.
This is hopefully going to made clearer before 1.8 hits and must be made known before the election dates are announced, as voters will need that information, as well as the candidates, to make an informed decision.
Do NOT mistake this response as me speaking on behalf of CCP in any way, nor an indication of when information will be coming. But Kevall is absolutely right, uninformed elections without a better idea of the bigger picture are pretty pointless. The future of EVE is pretty well known and mapped out, Dust not so much. I don't think the two situations are comparable right now.
As for myself, I will not be running in the next election, either way. It's time for me to retire and allow the next set of qualified candidates step up, even though I'll still be around playing and supporting Dust however I can. I hope one of the other current CPM members does have the time and energy to run for election, continuity is crucial with institutions like these and incumbents have been critical to maintaining progress in the CSM historically. However, while all of them have my endorsement should they choose to run, there are no current CPM0 members that have stated interest in running for election at this point and time.
I will say this much - a lot of discussion and planning has gone into setting up the election system, and there won't be any "SURPRISE!!" registration announcements, or rushed proceedings. There will be plenty of warning for candidates and time for them to prepare. CCP will share more about this at the appropriate time. |

This has nothing to do with "getting it right" (CCP logibro's plan is fine) and everything to do with CCP Saberwing as selling it as "elections are going to happen" last november on IRC (and forums). The likes of Soraya and others popped over night selling themselves to the community. Almost 5 months later all we know is how the voting system will work and thats it.
I think its fair to say that it should be cpm1 that is heading to fanfest 2014 (if you keep up with eve election cycle and cpm0 went last year). For the record while I would like to punch most of cpm0 I think they have done a good job for us and have no problem with them still being our reps at fanfest14.
I'm just a concerned dust citizen and am curious to why we aren't having elections like normal Eve-esq cycle. Full disclosure I am not running for cpm1 as i prefer to be community antagonist and not ccp propaganda

The recently elected CSM winners have never been flown to FF, only those that have completed a term. Again, EVE comparisons aren't really helpful in this case.
There's pretty much nothing "normal" in general about the current situation (this is a good thing, "normal" for Dust is well.....).
Anyways, Saberwing is still correct. Elections will happen. They'll happen when its an appropriate time to have them. That's all I can say at this time.

Can I take that as confirmation a CPM member newly elected will be required to be financially able to meet all commitments associated with the role? I feel that is worth pointing out the wider community if it already hasn't.
Simply applying for the role is a big decision and commitment, especially when you are responsible for representing the wider community of this game.

Nothing a CPM member says should ever be taken as confirmation of anything, really. Confirmations always come from CCP and CCP alone.
But as to your question, I'm a bit confused. No CSM or CPM member have ever been financially required to do anything at all, except maintain a current passport. |

Hans I was trying to be specific with election cycle and not free trip to fanfest. I fully understand that cpm0 is unique and things change and its more than fair that ccp changes things or rewards cpm0 for their work. As I said before I overly happy that cpm0 will be fanfest reps because they know what going on.
That said why can't we have elections now. So yeah cpm0 gets the trip and our reps good for them. Let the cpm1 get a chance to send themselves and get a head start on the next year. Even if 90% of what ccp will show at fanfest about dust wont ever happen like last year, right?
Gotta understand Hans to the noncpm0 peons who dont have a *****ing clue whats going on because ccp hasn't said **** since CCP Rouge has showed up kinda want to get a move on things.
I dont think having to know what CCP Rouges great plan to save dust has to do with anything.

A bit off-topic but I feel compelled to comment on this.
I'm getting a bit tired of posts that are directed towards CCP or CPM being "answered" by these "candidates".
You lot hovering over the CPM section responding to things you aren't savvy of and insisting on posting after CCP or ACTUAL CPM posts is really not doing you any favors. Chances are you don't know anything helpful other non-CPM don't all ready know.
If you people want support for this nonsensical political movement then find better ways to occupy your time than adding noise to threads that don't concern you.
Also whomever made that joke about "joining the mortals" has really poor taste in humor; I really hope nobody votes for you. I don't want my CPM searches filled with your spam. I all ready get more than I need with Jenza's "Soon" noncontent posts.
