Another issue raised by the community was the inability to lock vehicles, and as a result, having the vehicle youGÇÖve just deployed stolen or a passenger slot intended for a squad mate taken up by a random blueberry. WeGÇÖve not been able to add a fully featured locking system in the time available but we did want to improve matters GÇô so, weGÇÖve added lock timers to newly deployed vehicles. As it stands today, no-one other than the vehicle owner can get into a vehicle for 5 seconds after delivery and no-one other than the vehicle owner and his squad can get into a vehicle for 15 seconds after delivery.
TL;DR:
If a RDV drops a LAV/Tank/Dropship it takes
- 0 seconds for owner to enter - 5 seconds for squad members to enter - 15 seconds for everyone else to enter
So basically what we see: Someone orders a LAV, hops in and drives away leaving lots of sad blueberries behind. This is completely understandable. Noone wants to wait for others to hop in. You waited long enough for your vehicle (especially at vehicle-favored maps). You play to KILL not to WAIT!
The original problem was hijacking a vehicle. Unfortunately all seats (driver, passenger, gunner) are locked by above timers. What if CCP could fine-tune the timers to distinguish between driver seat and passenger seat (this would include the gunner seat too)? What if we have those timers:
If a RDV drops a LAV/Tank/Dropship it takes
- 0 seconds for owner to enter the driver/passenger seat - 0 seconds for squad members to enter the passenger seat - 5 seconds for squad members to enter the driver seat - 5 seconds for everyone else to enter the passenger seat - 15 seconds for everyone else to enter the driver seat
CCP is already distinguishing the different seats (you can't drive at the passenger seat; you can't shoot guns if you drive) so it shouldn't be that difficult to fine-tune those timers.
If CCP plans to release the rumored Medium Attack Vehicle (troop transporter) it would come in handy too.
What do you think? I know that CCP has lots of topics which are higher in priority, but this little change would make the game more dynamic and also more social. |
