The one thing that stands out for me regarding EvE is the death penalty. This is the only game that I play in which I actually hesitate undocking before quickly checking my fittings... just in case. Get popped? Whatever gear survives is looted by scavengers. There is no running back and picking up where you left off minus a minimal repair bill. It's just... gone. If you stick around after being podded, your pod can be destroyed where in you die, effectively losing skill points if you've not created or updated a clone for backup. Gone, done, and done. That, to me at least, is friggin awesome.
That applies here too, more or less, with the loss of gear on death. But here it's so fast and insignificant it kind of falls below radar. DUST BPOs **** me off. In EvE you use BPOs to manufacture unlimited runs of the item, but you must still invest in material or cost of material to produce the item. There is no free reproduction.

9 plex in his cargo in addition to everything else. I almost feel sorry for the guy. I laughed on the first page during the discussion with the reporter, but just before the page turn I noticed the Goonswarm reference and felt a knot forming in my stomach haha. Just... wow. |
