The RR is just an I win button at any range.
Patrick, You should know better. Which gun dominates in PC? In the hands of a good player, there is no better or more used weapon than the CR. For the noob, the RR is probably easier to come up to speed and at its max range certainly does more damage, but the CR is the superior weapon as evidenced by its dominance in PC. It could simply be that a few people think they are the best and the rest follow until someone breaks from the herd and tries something new. In Uprising 1.8, and I think in 1.7, the Scrambler Rifle has the second best range and the best DPS and damage potential per magazine. It may suffer a reduced efficiency against armor but it does 40% more damage per second versus the Combat Rifle which should overcome the drawback.
Hi Reav! Thanks for your response....
I never said it was "overpowered". I'm simply answering Patrick's question: "Since when is the CR better than the RR?" with the answer "In PC".
I do, however, think that you need to take into account what the best players in the game use -- which is what the quoted snippet of my post above alludes to.
FWIW, I tend to agree with you about the follow-the-leader when it comes to PC weapons (and the same can be said for the more general pubbing population), and your observations about the ScR (which in the hands of a really good player is probably the strongest of the bunch, but also easily the hardest to use) is also accurate.
So, we can argue about DPS or damage per magazine or accuracy or hipfire spread or overheat mechanics or spool up times until we're cross-eyed, but that doesn't change the fact that the CR outnumbers the RR probably 5:1 in PCs, and 10:1 when compared with the ScR.
Do you disagree?
