I think CCP could greatly benefit from selling brand new suits, equipment, gear to players willing to spend Aurum on them, just to make them available to that player say 1 week in advance. There would be no imbalance issues, nobody could really complain, people could salvage them like normal, the extra week could give extra time for hot fixes to sort unresolved issues with the new item.
If the item effects the skill tree (which it will) then players could spend say, -ú10 (or equivalent exchange) to unlock the skill in their skill tree so they can get 1 week ahead of the game. This is why any duration longer than 1 week, would twist Dust514 into a pay to win game which would be very toxic. The purpose of this early release is not to boost players ahead of others, but to test and provide early release of highly requested items in the game, and to provide extra funds for development of future products for CCP.
With the implementation of such an idea, limitations must be put in place to compensate. The maximum level of which a player can achieve in the new skill would be advanced (level 3) at which point the skill will be inaccessible until the official release date. This is so both basic and adv items are tested before release date.
Opinions people?

This strikes me as p2w by the very definition of the term, i.e. withholding content that provides a relevant gameplay advantage.
What this advantage would be? The increased pool of fitting choices that almost certainly will provide some specific fit or a number of fits options that provide superior synergies compared to freely available offerings.
Now you already did limit this to one week, probably for this very reason but, even then, that's a line not worth crossing in my opinion.
The aspect of testing the stuff before release is actually good but I really doubt one week is enough to collect reasonable data, given that the players purchasing this would be a comparatively small sample.
