The million clone challenge. 1 million skill points awarded to all players if the clone count reachs 1 million. That 1 million is designed to help you on your way to what you really wanted in 1.8.
By doing this it softens the blow when they announce no respec. Why else would they give away 1 mil SP?

I would be unsurprised if CCP saw this event as an excuse to not give out respecs, despite claiming that it won't affect chances of a respec.

It's hardly going to make a difference anyways for most people. I already saved up to at least 1 million SP on both my main and my alt while my brother saved already up to at least 3 million SP. Rumor also has it that someone around here lurking the forums or in the game has up to 5 million SP saved up.

I had 5 mil a couple of weeks ago but I used it to max out my cores, now I just have 2.2 mil saved up. Since the announcement of the new suits they've also had a triple SP event, if this event give us all 1 mil, that means there will be over 2.5 mil in potential extra SP, more than enough to go to level 5 in a new suit.

I was banking my SP for a while, but couldn't take it anymore and decided to spec into ADS with advanced weapons/mods! 
1M SP isn't that much--that's like, what, a level 5 weapon with 1/2 proficiency? Nice, but not spectacular.
I feel like speccing into ADS allowed me to escape from the "WilltherebearespecandwhenandERMAHGERTshouldIsavemySPwhatshouldIdo?!?!?!" anxiety.
My other dropsuit is a Python.

I have 1.7 mil atm not counting the free 750k sp from event, 1,600 hmg kills and 30 forge kills

This is my fear as well and if this come true it would clearly show how far away from their community CCP already is. No respec will mostly hurt mid aged players veterans and new players won't be affected as much... |

Their waiting till the moneys in your hand and you feel how good it is. You think their great and forget the respec. They then dont bring it up but when you do they'll be like "We just gave you a million SP, and your asking for a respec as well!!"

This is all they actually need to do, if they don't want to give a full respec for whatever reason that is completely understandable but why would they not give back the dropsuit command tree? Given the changes it is fair and warranted and why is it so hard to make a decision on? After all this time CCP is still undecided? Yeah i highly doubt it, i wish they would just tell us yes or no.

They probably should wait for a respec anyways until after they've worked on dropsuit slots/stats. Which they said they weren't able to get to in 1.8 but will be tweaking in a future build.
I could see CCP giving out a respec but not two back to back.

Respec or no respec, my skills will remain pretty much unchanged past 1.8. Gallente scouts stay mostly unchanged, I'll just get more fitting options with the second equipment slot and more CPU and PG.
And an extra million SP would be nice for getting that cloaking skill.

I'm going to admit that with an extra 1 million SP I can use that to finally max out my core skills since I have been holding back on those SP for a cloak.
I even have my 'Skinweave' BPO-Dual-SMG-w/BPO-Locus-Grenade-and-BPO-Kin-Cat ready for this event.
