So I made a tank character with 1.5 million SP, it's got enhanced shield upgrades and proto railgun turret. Until tonight I was under the impression that tanks in general need to be easier to kill. Then I entered a match with a ton of Forge Gunners with high proficiency who absolutely destroyed me. So it appears that tanks aren't that hard to take down if you've got a couple dedicated AV guys on your team. Next match I realized something. It was an ambush, and I ran a good distance away from the action to call down the Gunnlogi. Right when I got in I was shot by a Sica. I activated the enhanced hardeners and booster, which completely did nothing to help me and I blew up instantly. That's when I realized Militia Tanks are the problem.
Without investing skill in vehicles at all, militia tanks can:
- Easily survive orbitals
- Shoot assault dropships out of the air
- Spawn kill tanks that people have actually skilled into before they touch the ground
- Soak up proto AV grenades and proto swarms like they're nothing
And about the AV grenade thing. I know this well because I have been level 5 grenades since before 1.7 Uprising. They are practically useless, you can't even scare a tank off with them. And apparently in 1.8 we will only be able to carry 2 instead of 3. They are also taking away the ability to stick Remotes to vehicles which will further hurt this, even though I don't use them personally. You should at least be able to scare a tank away with proto AV nades because you took your time to invest the SP in them.

The point is they are essentially useless, even against Militia Tanks which is pathetic.
If a blaster tank is going to risk getting close enough to infantry to effectively slaughter them, there should at least be a way to make them think twice.
As far as I'm concerned, the only effective AV weapon is the Forge Gun.

No. Standard is the same as Militia, for everything on the Dust market. Investing the small amount of skill into Level 1 gets you the same equipment as Militia with less PG/CPU.
****, if nobody signs this I will be severely disappointed in the forum community.
Edit: You're right, tanks and dropships are different. But the modules and turrets will be the same as militia. And there are Breach HAVs and other specialized vehicles which are better than regular Gunnlogis and Madrugars.

Yeah but you're not going to be hitting a dropship with an AV nade unless it's sleek (variant you can throw farther with less damage) and the dropship is flying low.
So his argument of "nerf this buff that" doesn't apply here, in fact I support his argument by saying militia tanks should be nerfed/removed.

What's your next thread, nerf/remove mlt assault rifles because someone killed you with it? PS: All the points you listed on why mlt tanks should be nerf/removed apply to std tanks as well. So logically, you should also be calling for the removal/nerf of std tanks as well.

How about the ambush I partook in the other day with a full squad of experienced players who got THRASHED by 6 tanks most of which were militia.
It's one thing to have a couple people skilled into tanks on the enemy team. It's another thing to have a full squad of Soma using scrubs supporting them.
I'm so disgusted with the lack of community support in this thread I'm just going to stop replying in it and let it die. If you don't think tanks are a problem in 1.7 you're a ******* scrub.
