Still a better Assault than the Minmatar Assault.
Anybody else plan to run Pilot suits on the ground, without a vehicle? I would imagine it would have next-to-no HP, no module slots, and only allow a sidearm to be fit. Its utility would likely come from specialized equipment, or just from bonuses. This. A pilot that ejects over enemy territory is in some deep sh*t. You have a 9mm pistol, 2 magazines, a knife, flares and smoke, a radio, a Capri sun worth of water, and 5 lbs of whatever stuff you want to bring with you (and can fit). The suit is going to be what connects you to your vehicle. Basically a harness that connects you to the cockpit so you stay in there securely. The pilot suit should definitely be restricted to sidearm only. Pistol really since you can't fit anything bigger than that in a cockpit, but some racial sidearms are SMGs so I guess SMGs will have to be allowed. As someone pointed out, the vehicle IS your weapon. You shouldn't get any modules...they are all now burning in the smoking hole that was formerly your weapon. If there's any benefit, the scan profile should be low, so you can do what downed pilots do: evade and hope for rescue, or work your way back to friendly territory.
in a land of nano-circuitry, artificial intelligence and field technology (shields)... why wouldn't a pilot have optimised subroutines built into their suit?
I'm all over the idea of vehicle modules for drop suits!.....make them inefficient and aimed towards stuff like 5% turn speed bonus!!! or 1% bonus to spool time or 10% of damage done to passengers gets directed at the vehicle...
stuff that is marginal but allows for vehicle users to ..... use vehicles.....
you catch a pilot out of water they are toast...fair enough....
also there was a thread on reducing vehicle module and turret effectiveness to the tune of what ever teh pilot suits bonuses are... take it further so that racial suits only buff racial systems....

I still say Pilot Suits are completely unnecessary. Everything that vehicles users want can/should be achieved through Skill, just like Dropsuits. The extra bonuses that they want should be attached to the specialty variants of the vehicles, just like Dropsuits. Why try to shoehorn in a different system for vehicles, when the one we have works just fine? |

It wont
Be lucky to get a SMG to put on it, mod wise or equipment wise it will be for vehicle mods mainly and useless for on the ground

So you're saying that a Pilot suit will give a vehicle absolutely massive buffs? Like up 30% from what they currently have?
The lower the buffs from such a suit to the vehicle, the higher the combat potential will be. And inversely, absolute **** combat means massive vehicle buffing. High combat --weaker vehicle Low combat -- strong vehicle.
Of course knowing CCP, the pilot suit is going to be next in line to the Capsuleer suit, so it might get out of hand if implemented...

Pilot suits would either make balanced vehicles OP, or be another SP and ISK sink required to have a balanced vehicle.
Either way it's a bad idea. |

I've been getting the impression that people on both sides of the fence are taking issue with it.
Honestly, I still don't understand why CCP is so averse to Capacitors for vehicles. Instead of this duration/cooldown junk and triple-hardener fits and what-have-you, we could have a system whereby vehicle modules are limited only by the capacitor amount and recharge rate of the vehicle, and then give infantry means of neutralizing that energy to temporarily disable a vehicle's active modules.
Right now a triple-hardener vehicle is nearly impossible to kill, and the new passive armor repairers can be buffed up with high skill levels to repair up to around 560 hp per second.
As a dedicated vehicle user, I think a system of capacitors and EWAR to neutralize them would provide far better balance than what we have right now.

I want my pilot suit
I dont want to be in my vehicle with a scout suit
Its alright for you
You can get a suit which helps increase your weapons damage, or equipment perform better or even take less dmg from the enemy

People saying that pilots shouldn't be required to train into their suit to get today's vehicle performance is ridiculous. That's like saying a Logistics should just train assault but get logi bonuses when wearing a logi suit.

Pilot suits will probably have the same base stats as a scout suits, but only pack a sidearm and will not carry equipment. That would be my guess. Out of a vehicle it would barely be able to defend itself, but with the dropsuit skill bonuses, in a vehicle it provides several passive bonuses.
Pilot suit release date: Q4 2015. Maybe.

Well when i get in a pilot suit i will be able to defend myself somewhat. I have prof 4 scramblers they have to deal with while i get in my vehicle. But yeah, ittl actually be kinda neat in my opinion to see what pilots bring to the table

I think that the pilot suit will be far less actual combat oriented than even the scout, and have bonuses to the vehicles used. Hopefully when we actually get pilot suits, we will have all the racial vehicles and the racial suit can give bonuses to its racial vehicle. For example, I can see the Min HAV being a slightly smaller tank, with less EHP, a good mix of module slots, faster than the other tanks, and an auto cannon or a mortar. So the pilot suits bonuses could increase range on the auto cannon and mortar, and maybe their blanket bonus across all races could give a faster cool down rate to active modules.
Still kind of hoping that the Min HAV will be nothing more than a stolen Cal LAV with a large rail turret duct taped to the top of it.
I am here to ask you one question, and one question only: EXPLOSIONS?
