Sir,
There are so many problems with your product.
Fatal Errors have been introduced. Hell, there are so many long standing bugs it is hard to imagine the QA department. You need to whip it into shape and put a lot more attention on developing a solid QA staff. that above all else, is killing Dust.
It is so horribly obvious that your game designers have no tactical experience whatsoever. #1 illustration of this fact is the placement of turrets. Some face walls. Some are behind terrain and are completely ineffectual.
There is almost no connection to eve.
The promise of an economy. The horrible imbalance of your economy.
Huge imbalance between vehicles and AV weapons. The destruction of any strategy with insta-delivered vehicles. The failure to provide us with AV weapons that are ineffectual. The lack of design of vehicles with varying tactical value. Apparently, this is to be ongoing, somehow.
Your weapons.. well, half of them are a joke. The other half are sub par, and I believe, one weapon per couple of patches are developer favored weapons that are made OP. This is not a hard or difficult concept.
Hampered development. No worthwhile communication with your customers. Not saying your customers should dictate your development. No way. But your development is way beyond a head scratcher.
Serious issues with public opinion. You have yet to achieve a favorable review.
Your game is extremely exploitable.
You have almost zero player growth.
You have a horrible track record to recover from. Goals are not met. There has already been a restructuring of staff. Your staff is all over the globe. You are losing money.
Something, more than most development companies, is seriously amiss. Basically, at this point, you are getting destroyed by developers in the same way a bar gets destroyed by bad bar tenders.
Hilmar P+¬tursson, I hope you read these forums. I'll fly to Reykjavik sometime in April for a meet on my dime if you will agree to meet me. I'll hand you my impressive resume, full of impressive references, and work with CCP Saberwing to help turn your product around. In effect, I'll wow you.
I've overseen the development of software that has made hundreds of millions of dollars and over a billion dollars of currency transactions a month. I'm the real deal.
I'll show you where your product can really go, and I will make it happen for you. I'm in despair at where this game has gone, and would love to help turn it around. You need someone who can. I used to do that all the time. It's something I am good at. I was so good, I retired at age 31. I'm kind of bored. I'd like to help you out becauseI love your vision. At last year's fan fest when you mentioned how moved you were by the orchestra playing the soundtrack to your game... I knew you had the passion to make one of the greatest games ever made. Sometimes it is hard to realize that passion through others. I am the guy to help you. Send me a PM.
Respectfully,
Mollerz

I love tackling these kinds of software development issues. Make no mistake, I'm not here to win the community over with my words. It is an open letter to Mr. P+¬tursson.
I can only win the community over with my success. This would be a great challenge. One that would bring me out of my professional hibernation, if you will.

Thanks. I hope I can one day kick some ass for you. I don't want to go through normal channels. I would only want to work directly with Mr. P+¬tursson, and to that end, help him realize an amazing vision for his software.
Nothing else would ever suffice. IMHO, from experience with working with CEOs, nothing else ever really works. You need to know how to make the bottom line grow. That can only happen with the community's support. Support, IMHO, they lost, and haven't grown.
If I am ignored, no big deal for me. If he'll meet me, then I'd love to listen to his vision, and then pitch how I could make it happen. He might not like it, then we both walk away. I'd just love to do something I feel passionate about with my skills.

Like the last one? I'm not interested in fanfests.
I'm interested in customer satisfaction and therefore CCP profits. One hand begets the other.
CCP is losing out on hundreds of millions of dollars, IMHO.
EDIT: What real existing paying customer is going to care about fanfest to the point they are going to continue or begin to pay CCP money for their product? Fanfest will not draw in new profit. It is just that- fanfest. For the existing fans.
What real purpose does the CPM serve to that effect? In my pitch, CPM would be a role playing depth providing role, not a development one. As it should be.
And it should be elected. like any fan club.

I said it once I will say it again When CCP Rogue talked to the CPM It hurts; it hurts because he knows the game, he loves the game and he is not going to lie to himself or anyone else on that matter, and that is why he will do best for the game as possible.
I'd love to work with him then.

Last fanfest they where promising things that hadnt even really began development, they where a bit too optimistic and where not in the position they should be considering most of the stuff they wanted to make where very early in the process. CCP has learned from their mistakes.
Perhaps. I leave it up to Mr. P+¬tursson to think my offer over. Like I said, Id like to work with his team. I'm not one to trim fat, as it were. But I am one to produce vision and results. And profit.
Profit only comes from customer satisfaction.

if you are industry, arranging a meeting via other.. more discrete channels would surely have a lower risk of possible aggravation?
PR should always have the facts at hand, any certitude of positive PR from a front led campaign is Gambled without prior knowledge of the currents, and with the nature of your proposal, it isnt necessarily you who gets hit with it.
humbley 'imo'
haha.. because I, particularly, like these types of beginnings. Discrete channels are over rated. I didn't kick ass in my industry going through "discrete channels". I stormed in and killed it. I worked with two bad ass CEOs who made more money with me than they could have without me.
But that aside, I hear you. There is slow ways to slowly move things in a positive direction. You can always hope. I'd like to step in before this game falls into a jovian wornhole, if you will.

Ya know, I gotta hand it to you for putting yourself out there. I really do. But at this point, I think the game's beyond hope.
Come over to einjin.com...hit this name up with a hello, send me a sexy pm, you sound like an interesting guy that I have some questions I'd like to ask.
Feel free to ask me in game to mollerz.
I'll return you with an email.
You can ask the scout community.. I've already went from 100 mph to 0mph with them. I want to stay out of communities. No CPM. No corps.
I just want to feel the game from every angle. I want to make sure I understand it.
I don't want circle jerks. I don't want to fight people.
I want this game to survive, make mad mad amounts of money on par with the financial industry I'm used to, and make sure we make George Lucas look like a sucker. Btw, his B-day is 5-14. Like mine. Like Dust 1.0.

How did you come about the statement about them losing money idea, do you really believe that money wise CCP is inept at handling, managing, and appropriating funds.
Absolutely.
Their last public disclosure of profit before they decided to cease disclosing it is fact of public record.
Then there is WOD being shut down as a consequence. Also, the shake up of Dust staff as well.

The fact that you worked for the financial industry is hardly a good reference for being able to make anything survive.
Haha.. I hear that! I, however, didn't work for big banks too large to fail. I worked for.. well, the best way to put it is the special forces of the black box trading world. We competed with large banks with a 10 person outfit, did far more volume, etc. A large international bank even begged us to stop raping their currency desk. no names of course.
Sometimes. Just once in awhile when they actually caught us, did we make it a big deal like we were doing them a favor and stopped.
We also made the most $ during the crash of 2008. That is what enabled me to retire. Whenever the world financial markets "crash" is when the most money can be made. So I and my crew did so. I know lots of secrets the public has no clue about as far as making money in the markets.
As an aside, it is terrible **** really. Your 401k is basically liquidity that funds the ability for large banks to play with volatility. I could go on. Dark liquidity pools. Iceberg orders. naked short sales....
basically the OP TARs, RRs, flaylocks etc. of the world markets that still are never nerfed
