Why are people suggesting that, for example, SMGs are getting buffed against armour?
Their damage profile remains the same, and their damage to shields will suffer.
Damage bonus to armour remains the same.

I haven't read all the arguments, but my guess is that they're saying weapons with smaller damage profile penalties will be better off. The former proficiency system went aways towards compensating for the fault of a weapon. Weapons like lasers get effectively crippled against armor when, in the former system, full rank 5 proficiency didn't actually square them up either.
Projectile weapons in particular have the smallest penalty set of any damage type.
Dren and Templar equipment stats, wrong since release.

I understand your point because the current 15% damage increase for proficiency 5 will remain for armor but it will be less because SMGs are getting an 8.7% damage reduction except the breach which is getting an 8.5% reduction.

I find the suggestion that the placon might be 'the new shield AV' because of these changes particularly hilarious.
You have long since made your choice. What you make now is a mistake.

If that Gallente Assault dispersion bonus made it fly straight and faster, it might be more usable...

It's a perception thing. people see two numbers (120%, and 138%) immediately recognize that one is bigger than the other, and think that means higher final numbers. The only real change to the equation is that it no longer includes the weaker profile. That's why I think that the CR should have an 80% shields/120% armor profile. It's a great way to balance the weapon, without gimping it, or changing any of it's base stats. |

The assault bonuses that affect weapons should affect all light weapons of that race. Some would have to be creative, like the Plasma Cannon (since it doesn't have dispersion).
