I know this is old hat. It isn't even a hat anymore; it is a dusty, moldy brim of a hat that was old when it was worn by Abraham Lincoln's dad. But I figured if I was just sitting here with nothing to do but to do an "old man yells at cloud" I figured I would let my brain leak onto the forums. You are welcome?
Looking at the Logistic Suit, it is pretty clear that it is simply better than the Assault Suit at being an 'Assault Suit' at Prototype level. Which is strange considering they are generally worse at the basic level.
Caldari Assault: 2 High, 2 Low. Caldari Logistics: 2 High, 1 Low Gallente Assault: 1 High, 3 Low Gallente Logistics: 0 High, 2 Low Minmatar Assault: 3 High, 1 Low Minmatar Logistics: 2 High, 2 Low this is actually fairly equal overall Amarr Assault: 2 High, 1 Low Amarr Logistics: 2 High, 2 Low
Go over to Prototype:
Caldari Assault: 4 High, 3 Low. Caldari Logistics: 5 High, 4 Low Gallente Assault: 3 High, 4 Low Gallente Logistics: 3 High, 5 Low Minmatar Assault: 5 High, 2 Low Minmatar Logistics: 4 High, 4 Low fairly equal Amarr Assault: 3 High, 3 Low Amarr Logistics: 3 High, 4 Low
The Prototype Caldari Logistics has 1 more High and Low slot over the Assault. It also has 18 more PG (30%) and 50 more CPU (16.6%). The Logi gets a 15% bonus to Hacking, at least with the proposed changes, 1 second less Shield Recharge Delay (5->4), 1 Second less Shield Depleted Delay (6->5), and 5 meters larger on Scanner distance. I am discounting Equipment and Sidearms because it is hard to quantify which is more important or useful for the ground pounding Assault dude. There are times where I was glad I had my SMG sidearm but I can think of more times where I wish I had another Compact Nanohive.
The Caldari Assault does have two main benefits over the Logistics but I would argue that they are minor: Mobility and base Health. The Assault has 30 more Shields and Armor than the Logistics, .3 more meters/second (6%), 5 more Shield Heal Rate (25 ->30), 5 more Scan Precision (45->50) , 25 more Stamina (150->175), and 5 more Stamina Recharge Rate (15->20).
Let's assume that the Hacking and Scanner Distance cancel out the Speed, Precision, and Stamina Recharge bonuses so we can talk similarities. The HP difference amounts to 2 hits from a Basic Assault Rifle, each doing 30 damage a piece. 1 Basic Plate or 1 Prototype Shield Extender amounts to more than that. Healing 30 Shields/second rather than 25 is a fairly decent change but the one second delay means that for the first 5 'ticks' the Logistics would have recharged more because it would be a 'tick' ahead as it starts to recharge a second sooner:
It breaks down to the Logistics having more Slots for the sake of having Slots and has more PG and CPU while having about par on everything else. Why did this happen? It doesn't take too much thought to look at the two suits and realize that one gives you more options and is capable of specializing in a more favorable way then the other.
The change to the blanket Assault bonus, if both suits are using a Prototype Rail Rifle, amounts to 3.5 less PG and 19.25 less CPU for the Assault. The Logistics still has more free PG and CPU. Having a larger base also means that Electronics and Engineering results in even more CPU/PG. If the Racial Assault bonuses were more significant than being able to reload slightly faster or if the Assaults had role bonuses like eve ships have, this probably would be as much of a problem.
Why did this happen? Is it not clear that the Logistics is simply better than the Assault number wise? |
