Even if hotfixes are the only thing that might be in store for vehicles, we have yet to see how much the feedback pushes them to change little things and luckily, maybe, they'll break them just the way vehicles constantly falling thru the map or spontaneously xploding makes bpo only vehicles viable.
This might not be the update we expected, or contributed feedback for, but it sure looks like it's gonna be crazy.

1. Slow down tanks 2. Buff prox mines.
Tanks can't just run away any more so they are more cautious entering combat and will likely leave earlier because they can't just truck over prox mines with no worries and will still catch a few FG rounds up the tailpipe along the way.

This makes it doubly tricky though- dropships rely on the same set of modules, and they're in a pretty good place balance-wise (except lolrails). Ditto AV- buff it too much to deal with HAVs, and suddenly LAVs and dropships are useless coffins.
Respec in 1.8 due to huge battlefield role shift for MinLogi!

I've been tanking since I discovered the joy in 1.3.....I still tank even now.... and I get so much hate for it....because the older tankers aren't around to shame me back into place I have games where I get ridiculous scores....

The quotes are paraphrasing a response I got from IWS, after is me being an @$$.
See how quick the community found this issue. Every time CCP announces something, the community is able to find things the Devs overlook. Wanna know why... You have hundreds of people looking at the same stats, all formulating opinions and strategies the second you give us data. We find the holes in the design. If CCP would work with the community, these problems could be avoided.
Of course, everyone has been saying that for forever. Viva la tankspam until after Fan fest at the earliest.

I'm a "I have an alt for that" kinda player.
My 3rd alt, sp wise, is my tanker. No boosters but he been maxed out a few times for SP and been cooking since the beta, so he's got proto rails and most Tank things to level 5.
I'm not an elite tanker by any means, but I can get the job done, mostly tank v tank with a damage modded gunnlogi
Here's my two bits:
the REAL tanks are fine the MLT tanks are way too buffed AV is beyond crap unless it's proto, and even then good luck...swarm lock on time, forge spool up time...the tanks are out of the picture before you can unload on them.
Fact is the hardners broke tanking/AV. That's where the problem is. Every tanker worth anything knows he's in trouble if he sees another tank and his hardner is down. That's where the problem lies.
I'm not saying nerf it or remove it, I'm just saying that's where the problem stems from.
They'd ban me, but I'm too funny and more importantly, I'm right.

I personally think everyone is putting too much stock in Heavies being OP.
People that know what they are doing will be OP. mr mustard is an amazing Scout, always has been, Scouts must be OP, always have been.
There will be plenty FotM Heavies running around who will still get wrecked. The Heavies that were destroying before the HMG buff will be god-like, but not gods. You can still die.
xSivartx, my personal Heavy, will be a beast, but if I pick up a Heavy suit, I'll still be pretty bad. If its just a bunch of RR, CR, AR, ScR Heavies, maybe they will be OP. Most people will adapt. I've been enjoying Heavy fights since they 'fixed' the HMG. I'm scared to fight a Heavy, just like back in Chrome.

In that case I highly doubt there is any sort of hope. CCP is on a good way to scare even the hardest fans away from dust. Maybe CCP will be happy if the only thing left will be HAVs and may be Heavies |

This news is very disheartening.
1.8 had the potential to bring hundreds of players who had quit back to the game. Now it seems they will just be spawning in to have tanks shoved up their shiny new suits back door and leave again.
Personally it makes me want to go back to AFKing like I did as a newbie while hanging out with friends in chat lines. I had just talked a friend who quit the game 6 months ago into coming back and I will be telling him not to bother and continue collecting passive thanks to this. The funny part is he was about to buy up boosters and Aurum equipment to catch up with me. |

1. The introduction of all racial heavy dropsuits will make many players return to Dust. 2. The increased HAV-problem will drive them back right away.
Mission accomplished CCP, increase in player base averted. Now you can begin your work on making Dust 2.0 a failure too.

If nothing is being done about vehicles and AV balance then all the other 1.8 updates are a complete waste of time .. I may as well biomass now and go play something else .. how the hell can they not fix something that is clearly unbalanced after forcing us through it for 3 + months is beyond me ..

Cut tank damage mods to 10%. Cut Shield hardeners to 30% Cut armor hardeners to 30%

Except feinting doesnt work so well when the tank can drive into the redline and you are completely cut off and baiting doesnt work so well when the tank can pop a hardener and cruise off into the sunset while you are locking and charging up
I'll start my own war, with hookers, and blackjack!

No offense to you or your statements I agree with them entirely, BUT when you are playing in pubs or FW with people who barely can scratch their own ass without having an epic fail, I don't think coordination is going to happen. Also, the true issue of tanking are the rail tanks that can kill from 600 meters. If these tanks were limited down some say to 400m dropships would be able to come in and clean out most of the problematic tanks, or at the very least the rail tanks would not be able to hide behind the red line on a hill sniping nearly the entire map.
The tanks that come by with the blasters, yeah they can kill infantry and tanks but they have limits on range and can be taken out much easier by dropships. The blaster tanks are typically the bulls of the battlefield, short range, can take a lot of damage, but crap on range. Missile tanks well....not so sure about them, only see them every so often and they aren't just blazing through the battle field. Though both of these types of tanks people can take out rather well, set up traps and all (though tank speed should be less and proxies should do more damage)
The main and true problem of the game are the Rail tanks.

Think of how much money this tank fiasco has actually cost them. Before 1.7 it was very common to see Aurum tanks on the battlefield, now with the MLT's being almost as good as the ADV tanks, why spend the money when the MLT isk cost is so low?

The mod nerf doesn't really change the DPS of AV enough for me to be concerned about, I would rather see weapon specific mods that buff AV harder than the generic damage mods.
The AV Grenade is a bit different. I use a PLC, prox and AV nades on my AV suit so taking grenades away does hurt because they are the gap filler because proxs are can't always be put in the correct places ahead of time.

Seriously AV is so broken that our regulars are often raging off after the constant tank spam. It's just not enjoyable to play the game with things so broken on this front.
Personally I will only be caping to 1.8 is released and I hope they throw in some tweaks for the release since small changes could make all the difference.
Reduce acceleration. Reduce hardners some and increase their cool down. Increase militia tanks ISK cost a bit.
The mic bubble bug... I yield, CCP will be fixing it SOON. Current ETA 1 year since bug
