Why do players keep throwing info and stats about eve ships as if the dropsuits should work just like them? Its nice that your ships can do that but we aren't playing eve here..we aren't using ships.. we are infantry.Yes dust is set in the "eve universe" but it is not eve it is its own game. People cant seem to get it in their heads that the rules in eve don't apply to dust. The battles in Dust are different from eve so with a different battlefield and different way of fighting comes its own rules some may have been based off of eve and are similar but Dust plays by its own set of rules. Expecting infantry to act and battle like giant ships of doom is kinda stupid. Giant Space ships and infantry are not the same thing you cant expect them to follow the same rules. |

It could be that people are pointing out what developed roles actually look like. These people can see past the fact that ships aren't mercs and actually see that all of this is based on game mechanics. In some cases, Eve ships can be a good demonstration of robust game mechanics, whereas Dust is a good example of lazy and inferior game mechanics.
Maybe.

Dust is not its own game and should not EVER make its own rules, otherwise it then needs to be separate from EVE.
The same rules do apply, the same people make our gear, supply us weapons, we work for those same people, we fight for corps in the same universe, etc.
We don't expect them to fight like ships, only for the technologies which mirror their EVE side counter parts to accurately operate in the same manner.

The reason I do it is because they got the bonus system and ship progression just about perfect with those two things. But other than those two areas ships and suits don't have much in common to me. The bonuses are tied to the ship, not the skill. There are 6 standard frigs per race all with different stats while in DUST we have one suit that just has more slots added to it instead of a change in the bonuses, slot layout and role played.

Because the original idea of the game was for EVE and Dust514 to be the same, racial profiles were made on EVE, and being as those profiles/styles/ideas already exist they should and must transfer over to another game set in the same universe, ESPECIALLY when its all taking place at the same time. Dust affects EVE, and Eve affects Dust, therefore the rules of the EVE universe should apply to the Dust universe because they are in fact the same exact universe in the exact same time frame. Saying that the rules that apply to racial variants of stuff in eve shouldn't apply to dust is stupid. That's like saying that weapon classes in call of duty or battlefield shouldn't be anything like their real life counterparts, or saying that weapons and ideas in the Warhammer series shouldn't correlate to each other, and that the lore and back story of a game doesn't matter.
Yes i understand that you are talking about space ships and infantry but my point is valid, Weapons and suits should behave the same as they do in other parts of the universe in the game. AS Dust is a PART of EVE, not a completely separate game. There is a reason its called " EVE : Dust514 " and interacts with EVE. It is not just Dust514 it is a part of New Eden.
When creating a universe with multiple games, one does not simply abandon the rules of the first game set in the universe just because it "doesn't make sense" if a rule about a group has been created in a universe it applies to every corresponding game set in the same universe.

Call it experience.
There have been number crafters in eve for as long as there been stars in new eden and they're GOOD it at.
Dust 514 highly similar in nature offers itself to be read by such experts in the same way and they're able to draw out high level conclusions that eventually player behavior will follow and fit with doctrine.
While there are numbers that don't translate well into a shooter there are numbers that regardless of what you think work anyways.

No idea. Experience has shown me that the passion for aligning with in-game lore is strong here. Really, I often thought that having all four races release a different "take" on the same equipment was questionable. Don't let it concern you too much. Some things are just part of the experience, and little else.

Weapons and suits should behave the same as they do for all parts of the universe..yes it should...I might be wrong but I have never heard of EVE pilots putting on dropsuits and ARs,shotguns..etc and battling each other to the death. This is the first time that technology from EVE has been modified and used to battle infantry vs infantry on ground where you control the merc right? So you don't know how its suppose to behave cause its not been used this way before. You expect tech to still behave the same after it has been modified for a different purpose? DUST tech cant behave like EVE tech 100% which is what EVE players seem to want..its not gonna happen. I never said lore and back-story doesn't matter obviously it does and has a role in the development of DUST. However, whether you like it or not DUST will have its own rules that apply to DUST and DUST only because DUST is a FPS a different game genre from EVE and on a console not a computer ...it cant keep up with EVE. |

EVE pilots essentially do....they put on ships like we do dropsuits, their bodies are their capsules, their ships their dropsuits, their AR pulse lasers and Railguns.
If this is the first time tech has been modified it would be micro sized tried and tested working combat equipment, thus almost exactly the same function and effectiveness as space borne weapons......modified for atomospheric conditions.
Dust 514 needs to be more like EVE, less like a traditional FPS.
FPS alone is boring, MMO RPG FPS.....all three combined= fun.

The ground based combat doctrines of each race are pretty well established in the Lore, which is what CCP should be, and as far as I can tell are, using as a guide for racial equipment and bonuses in Dust. It's highly unlikely that with the advent of infantry cloning the empires just threw away their combat tactics established with ground units who were susceptible to death. Sure they'll have been adapted for cloning, but the basics will be the same.

Lore. CCP is sticking to lore for the basis of the game but not developing according to lore. The races fight a certain way. That has been established and is the basis for the game. Blame CCP if they have backed themselves into a corner.
Why should lore be dropped when that is what is supposed to direct game play and make things interesting.
I'll be damned if I'm going to let a rail rifle or rail turret be good in CQC. If it changes like that then they need to change it in EVE.
Retcon time.
Rommel, you magnificent bastard, I read your book!
