Huh, let me direct you at FFXIV where there are up to a hundred fully customized characters in different armor/costumes on screen at once.(could probably be more, but not that many people were playing.)
It's on PS3.
So, what's your excuse for CCP's incompetence now?
If you hear the words "WORTH IT!" look about, something hilarious just happened.

It's on PS3. So, what's your excuse for CCP's incompetence now? The PS3. I don't play that game, but let me guess. It has tabbed targeting, not range mechanics whatsoever except on/off and no projectile mechanics either? Sure, then, they can use some of the PS3's dismal capability for character customization, whereas Dust can't because it's already pushing the PS3 to it's limits. Now, that's not saying that CCP Shanghai isn't incompetent, but that the bigger problem is the PS3.
Pushing it to it's limit? BULL****! You know as well as anyone that there are games with far larger maps and combat with fewer hiccups.(BF4 comes to mind) CCP just never optimized the unreal engine like every other developer that used it has done. Or they could have optimized the carbon engine. They seem to be totally against optimization of any sort, really.
FFXIV has: better character models, weather systems, more characters on screen(who look better and are far more difficult to render) huge zones, and it even has this mysterious thing called "fun" something that hasn't existed in Dust for quite some time. It uses tab targeting, PVP involves range mechanics(archers deal less damage out to their absolute range) line of sight calculations, and positional moves(you have to be behind someone, you have to be to their side, etc.) being handled on the same instancing servers as dungeons.
