How are proximity explosives? Personally I find them useless against anything other than an LAV. Maybe I'm just using them wrong.

I've seen many posts the last few months of people that want some sort of AV mine introduced into the game... how useful can something be if it's used so rarely that many players don't even know it exists? You can figure out OP or UP from that, I think. |

If you can plant a pile of them (6 or more, which means at least 2 varieties) on a likely avenue of approach, you can catch both HAVs and LAVs. It's a lot of fun when you get it right. |

they do need a small buff. nothing damage wise becaus ewhen they work, they work fantastic but i feel they need better detection/activation speed and also as with things like R.Es spawn links i think the higher skill level you go then the lower their scan profile is so they are harder to detect. most tanks or lavs have scanners and they just light up like a christmas tree to even the most basic and due to poor detection an LAV can speed tank them if not an enclosed area (liek the bridges) so increasing the range at which they pickup LAVs or i'd love if they were magnetized same as AV nades. many a time i'll see a tank come close, see the mines and backup. it'd be nice if they had a 'seek' range like AV nades do to compensate for the iffy activation detection
i've had great success with taking tanks and lavs but thats using all 3 diff types and just spammign them at gates/on bridges.
don't lose faith, they are great if you fit a specialized logi suit up for them but they do need a small bit of love

Useful, but you only get three and you need at least 6 six to kill tanks.
So you have to set them up near a supply depot, and most tankers know to avoid the road near depots=ƒÿæ

I have a Minmatar logi BPO that I fit with SMG, F-45s, vanilla Remote Explosives and Proximity 'mines'.
When there are enemy vehicles moving about uncontested I love finding a choke point they are likely to pass through and filling that space up with heavy explosive packs.
Yesterday, domination match on the map with the objective along the cliff side with the huge central tower..(why can't these maps be easier to name and recall?)... A madrugar blaster tank was rolling back and forth in front of the objective with more and more infantry support pressing to hack. We had a few soloists trying in vain to swarm or grenade the tank. I loaded the area in front of 'A' with a mix of all my equipped bomb packs and as this tanker rolled up to them I saw him hit his overdrive speed boost module. He seemed to have seen all the blue IEDs on the deck and planned to rush across them
The first one exploded below his chassis and I saw the blast lift the tank up and slide it forward across the rest of the minefield The blast threw his steering off and his acceleration could not save him.
A second later that 200k isk monster assploaded in a blazing poof.

Lol, mines don't show up on scanners.
Honestly, we need to carry fewer but have them be more powerful. It breaks the game flow to sit there and have to place 7 mines. (Anything less will not kill a tank) Conversly we could start with our max deployable for each mine. |

yeah if you get a good choke point you can completely neutralize vehicles. on the map with 'A' on the bridge in both domi and skirm (E and D north an dsouth of it) i love that. you can pretty much hold it solo with a fully fitted prox mine suit with ishukone gauged hive to restock with. after the 4th LAV and 2nd tank they kinda start giving up and go round the sides which is where you use the 'spares' on eithe rside for them to find. also the map with the round building that has the CRU and Supply depot next to it i scatter them in the sand outside the gate next to the SD/CRU and on th eramp inbetweenthe round building and where Alpha null cannon is (under the gangway from the building to A null cannon) and that limits tank use too. everyone expects mines to be lined near a gate but if you put them outside the gate it trips them up a bit.
also i put them in a vertical pattern mor ethan horizontal becaus eof speed tanking in a triangle/diamond kinda way
x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x
(roughly lol) that way if lavs see them and try to swerve it tend to still catch em

Are you interlacing proxies with Remotes, or are they all proxies?

They are most dangerous when use as a supplementary tool. Remotes + Proximity Explosives are a nasty combination and can instantly destroy a non-hardened tank. They are also great when added with another form of damage. Hit them shortly before or shortly after getting attacked by a Forge Gun/Swarm Launcher/Rail Gun and it can push them over the edge. |

all proxies. your own proxes wont detonate your own R.E's... well i've never known them to do so except in PC/FW

Biggest issue with this is that it is insanely obvious, unless the tanker is deaf the beeping should stop him. Also it's very obvious to infantry when this is done. One flux and the whole system falls apart (which is really worth it because so many proxies is an easy +50.)

You have to be tactful about where you put them and so they fair better for me on skirmish and dom because points of activity are more defined.
Try to put them on the downhill side of slopes so it is harder for them to see it before it is too late, although if they come from the other direction it is usually very obvious.
Choke points in roads are obvious choices for placing them. Currently they are very under used so you can afford to be a little obvious sometimes simply because most tankers are oblivious.
You more or less need at least standard and advanced if you want to be able to kill a tank but that many objects on the ground tends to attract attention so try to placing them in shadows or some roads have grates or bumps across them which are great for hiding them on.

They are fine you just need to know when to drop them, im using advance x5 , basic x4 PRE and K9 in DOM :D and they work fantastic... per game i can blow up 2-3 tanks (sometime more if someone not learning nothing) and few LAV
