I just love missiles. Sniping a roof top forger was so satisfying.....thing is I cannot seem to get them down in Tank vs Tank combat. The one HAV fight I did roll into the other tank reversed under me....a ******* terrible game mechanic to be sure, and blasted me to pieces.....
So any tips for maximising fitting effectiveness?

On my alt I run a Gunnlogi with AT Missiles, a shield extender, a hardener, and an advanced damage amp in highs, a 60mm plate and CPU upgrade on the lows. Flip the amplifier and lay into them. Most tanks will go down without a whole volley unless they activate their boner modules. Personally for Tank vs Tank I prefer my blaster. Similar fit but on a Maddy, blasters will tear through most tanks quickly when amped. Unless they are being pussies and require the distance of rails.
If you are feeling brave you could swap the extender for another damage amp. Both of those with adv missiles should make short work. Come in fast and take 'em from behind.
Anyway, kind of started to ramble on, but I hope this helps.

So any tips for maximising fitting effectiveness? 3 dmg mods, only thing that will survive is double or triple hardened shield tanks and if you think you will be facing those then switch to 2 dmg mods and hardener and stall the fight till their hardeners are done. Obv all this works 1v1 only, you have to run away after every kill. And to prevent that ****** mechanic keep a slight distance so you can empty your clip before they can drive under/over you. Just my .02 ISK.
R.I.P. Pre-1.7 tanks, you will be missed.

In tank VS tank with a missile tank it is extremely important you roll up behind the enemy and that their hardener's are not on.
You should also have a damage amplifier used before hand. The goal is to take them out in one clip before they even have a chance to react. So having a spotter is very important as well.
No you kill this blueberry hacking the CRU we are camping. I already killed the last 2.
When will they learn!

im a old tanker and I still sometimes dabble in it and id just like to say a missile tank at close range scares the **** outa me I often get hit with just one salvo and "** there goes 70% of my shields" and yes when that happens run under him and just wait for my shield to regen so I can throe on hardeners and run away to recall it.

Best thing to do is beg CCP for a clip size increase to 24.
Other than that, be sneaky and hope he doesn't have friends.
Best PVE idea I've seen.

From my experience having two gunners in rail guns can seriously even the odds against good rails and shield tanks. Right now I'm skilling to missile turrets and its quite the grind, so I'm using std state missile launcher and basic rail turrets. Though I've magaged to take on quite a few shield tanks head on. I'm sure damage mods help but on a shield tank you need your highs for the tank. I'm very excited to get adv missiles and rails, but I'm pushing my fitting costs as is. I'll probably have to get some fitting skills to fit my idea missile tank.
Maneuvering, positioning and getting the drop on your targets is vital. Managing reloads is the biggest concern especially without the reload skill. |

in my experience, the best working defense-strategy against a missile-tank is speed-"strafing" from rather close range out with a hardened and good repping extra-plating Madrugar using a fuel-injector:
since the missile-tank needs to land all/ close to all missiles of a volley to kill you and most missile-tankers seem to be hellbent on shooting them all out at once from that distances out, it saved my live several times to "fuel-injector teleport" out of their line of shot-fire that hits with slight delay and like that make them miss too much of their volley and leave them exposed in a rather long reload time afterwards.
but i guess against the more skilled missile-tankers among us, this tactic will not work anywhere near as good as against your average tanking-beginner testing out a different turret-option. |

I use 2 shield hardners and a speed mod with proto missiles. Then I found that mounting plates in the lows does very well for the offhanded shots from AV. I hate that I have to use the plates to stay out on the field, but I like to keep patrolling and not have to run for cover for hardeners to cool.
I carry a rep tool and retreat to rep armor while the shield hardeners cool.
The speed mod with plates works well for a retreat. I can't do anything but dance and usually lose with a mil rail sica once it hardens. That RoF has to go.

A missle HAV will knock out a maddy even with its hardeners on half the time, just got to be all creepy like.
Gunnlogi missle HAV extender/hardener/fuel injector // large rep / ammo bin
Trick is to kite the enemy vehicles, the extra speed is better than the extra dmg, and you will wanna bail out while you reload and perhaps drive over enemy infantry for the lols at high speed

dont be right in thier face as your missiles will miss. or fail to hit. try to be agood 100-200m from the target and turn on damage mod then blast all 12 at the target. although. try to keep a slight interval as the more in the burst the less accurate they will be. also avoid shield tanks. although its possible to bring them down in 1 volley. 1 hardner will save them.
against armour.......even with thier hradners are up they can still be alpha volleyed. |
