I think the biggest change to "fitting meta" is the proficiency change and that it makes the "omni" guys that dabble in a little bit of everything a tad more viable. If you are going up against a bunch of people using Caldari stuff you'll bust out the ScR gallente a RR and so on. Yes everyone is going to be dual tanking (LOL for once I'm ahead of the curve) but really only Amarr suits and Min logi can truly dual tank. A gallente assault can put all shield extenders in his highs but he is still going to be more armor than sheild tanked.
Most tankers are like sand people. They frighten easily, but will quickly return...and in greater numbers.

Low base armor is easily compensated for with plates, while high base shields are much harder for other races to beat with modules. Plus, there's the fact that they simply have more module slots than any other suit.
I alway forget about Cal logi. I understand mathematically why they have 9 slots, but CCP should have just been consistant like they are with all other suits and made the cal logi the mirror image of Gal logi 5 highs 3 lows and 4 equipment at proto

Boom, they're still combat logis, they just can't stack stupid amounts of EHP any more. Bonus- the removal of intrinsic reps means nothing to them because they're getting a fat nanohive resupply bonus, which also applies to armor repair- which means they're looking at nearly 100HP/s from Wiyrkomi hives.
That makes a ton of sense especially with their nanohive bonus
