You can add 20 new guns and it won't make any difference.
There is still nothing to aim for in this game. Factional warfare yields no long term rewards to aim for - such as a BPO suit requiring many LPs. Regular warfare is just as unyielding.
Until there is something to aim for in this game, I'm not going back to it.

I know you're trying to fix what's under the hood first but I'm not driving this car until you work on the paint job." Well if they don't at least make the insides of the car function properly, the paint job doesn't mean jack. Just wait. Sooner or later they'll get around to working on the really fun parts.
Gee sorry for giving feedback that might help them realise that adding content continuously isn't going to get more people in the game. They are decorating the car before making its mechanics work. This game has no fundamentals and nothing to aim for... it doesn't need 3 new sidearms.

There's nothing saying that the number cannot be drastically decreased by perhaps... FINISHING the game before chucking in three new weapons to try out.

Finishing the game, how? Adding in new game modes? PvE? Who says they aren't working on those things in parallel with 1.8? They just happened to have finished the new sidearms before they finished the new game modes. What do you want them to do? Hold any new weapons and dropsuits until they finish whatever it is you want them to finish?
By finishing the game I mean giving us a reason to actually play. Right now you can log off for a month and get 720000 SP. We have no reason to play and nothing to aim for. In COD/BF you would have a rank system to aim to reach, but in Dust 514, it's the same battle over and over again - I've skilled into everything I would possibly want to do, and there's nothing to do. I kind of hoped that Factional Warfare would add rare, powerful BPOs that you would have to dedicate time into achieving through earning a lot of LPs.
Plus if it takes them 3 months to add 3 new weapons, we'll only have finished adding the new dropsuits by June.

They exist in Dust already. Try to get to the top of it. Get in a corp and play Caldari/Amarr FW (hardmore). Fight for the underdogs. If that doesn't interest you then take a break until 1.9 Dust is F2P, it's not like it is costing you boatloads of money to play... I would bet money on dropsuits not making 1.8.... -_-
Furthermore I don't want leaderboards, I don't want to be in a corporation - why? Because corporations serve little purpose currently other than playing with other people in organised teams - in EVE, corps are vital for some aspects of the game. And a leaderboard? I don't care about a leaderboard... Firstly because it would take a ridiculous amount of time to get anywhere near the top - which I don't have. Secondly, I honestly couldn't care less if I were at the top - it would make me feel obliged to play on this half-finished FPS every day just to make several dozen people look at my name for 3 seconds once a week... See? NO BENEFITS of being at the top of the leaderboard.

This game has no fundamentals and nothing to aim for... it doesn't need 3 new sidearms. You got your analogy completely wrong: The car functioning properly = having a fundamental purpose The car's paint = adding new content Not how you said it... unless you genuinely believe that an FPS needs 3 more sidearms OVER it having a genuine reason to play - considering that not playing for a day gives you 24,000 SP. ._. What? You just made ugly out of my metaphor. Bringing in the weapons that will make the core game more balanced isn't "decorating," it's balancing. You don't make sense. If they add in a new PC, a player market, PVE, and new additions to the connection with EVE before balancing weapons and adding in what that are supposed to be the core gear...They have their priorities messed up. In my metaphor... The car functioning properly = the gameplay mechanics working properly The car's paint = Adding new content/having a purpose Please enlighten me on what the Hell do you consider "having a purpose?" Do you mean having real EVE connections? Having PVE? Actual weight to our actions? Well, that's called "adding new content."
Nononono... bringing new sidearms to the game is decorating. The sidearms we've got right now are sufficient for balanced gameplay.
They aren't 'balancing weapons'... I'm saying that they need to fulfil those things before adding 3 redundant weapons. We've got enough weapons. We don't have enough dropsuits, we don't have any things to aim for, we aren't in control of our universe.
Having a purpose = giving us a reason to actually play it other than for fun (which I am currently reluctant to type up because this game is not fun with the lack of things to do)
