OK, this was mean, but who knows, maybe there is a contract forcing them to stay on PS3. There's a quote from Hilmar somewhere saying that there is nothing technically stopping them, it's just not something they're looking at right now.

Quit your laser-focus nonsense. And develope the game f We are talking about 6 million very active player, not about the shadow numbers of the PS3. Of course there are a crap-tone more PS3s out there, but I'm asking myself how many are actually in use, how meany people still play, and now many people are actually using the PS3. All I try to say, is that it is save to say, that from the 6 million there are probably the very biggest majority very active gamers. My guess is that CCP was banking on raking in new players when the large mass of people who can't afford the PS4, but can now afford the extremely low pricetag of the PS3 noticing the F2P FPS they've never heard of. Apparently CCP didn't realize the NPE of Dust514 makes that situation moot point. I am not being a smartass. In EVE the tutorial lasts for about 15 minutes if you click every next box as fast as you can. I don't know how long it would take just doing it the correct way. It would have to be at least an hour. My question is how long should the game hold your hand? I understand that we need basic I formation but what is too much. I hear pilots in EVE complain that the NPE doesn't cover this and that but should it? This game is a soap opera for men and it is kind of difficult to learn but at what point should CCP make the player do it themselves? I am not saying make the NPE junky or difficult on purpose but there needs to be a time when the game kicks you in the butt and says do it yourself. Catering to the players who don't want to try to learn or become involved with the community isn't good for a game where drive and the community are the two biggest selling points. There's no excuse for crappy NPE in an FPS that has the potential to have a lot of depth.
PvE is basically mandatory for the success of DUST 514 as anything more than a niche game. PvE allows for cool tutorials and a great place for new players to learn all the ins and outs that they wish. If they want to skip it and hop straight into PvP, by all means, have at it. However, the game should attempt to draw them into the PvE starter zone where they will have the option to absorb as much or as little knowledge as they like.
Give them a taste for PvE modes that would be in the game, give them a feel for their race by tailoring each "starter zone" to that race in terms of feel when we have a broader spectrum of architecture and enemies. This game does not feel big, it does not feel like part of a broader universe; it does not feel connected to EVE.
PvE is the opportunity to draw EVE and DUST closer together, to give DUST an experience that draws players in and keeps them, and to provide even more entertainment to an even broader variety of gamers.
