I've been on a bf4 binge for sometime, so I decided to play Dust for an hour....or try.
It was still the same game I devoted the last year of my life to, but it doesn't make me giggle anymore.
Maybe it was that I was lagging even with a 50mb/s connection, or maybe it was the loading fittings glitch that happened over and over.
However, I think the biggest problem for me was that I lost the drive. I have a good 300,000,000 ISK, 30,000,000 SP, and nothing to really work for. I have everything prototype and spending 1,250,000 SP just to have 3% higher damage doesn't seem worth it to me. It's the grind. It got to me. I feel that the entire skill system is wrong.
I don't like how one level costs exponentially less than the previous (or at least it feels that way). Honestly, why go past op5prof1 on ANYTHING when the weapon or suit will likely get nerfed....
And now that I'm on suits, they take 1 straight month of boosters and grinding to earn. ONE SUIT that will get nerfed if it is any use at all.
I'd like it better if I could log on every day and spend a small amount of SP for a very small bonus to something...ANYTHING. Literally everything you do should have an associated skill. And multipliers should not work as they do to calculate SP costs. There should be 100 levels possible for every skill. On a lower tier skill, costs could be 15,000 SP/lvl, so to max a skill is 1,500,000 SP. The bonus would be small, but it'd make me feel better logging on and putting that hours worth of grind into SOMETHING. Then every increment of 20 points in a skill, or 33, or whatever, a certain new item of that type is made available in a different tier...Or maybe get rid of tiers altogether and have the power of an item come from the SP you put in it (tiercide).
Anyway, I'm sick of the grind and if there MUST be a grind, I'd like it to feel more...like Candycrush.

I think you should have everything for free. Seriously, it's the only way to balance the game in a fair way. Cuz you know, what's the point of busting your balls to run that OP sh!t, if it's gonna be maybe, eventually, if CCP stops having nonending 'job-well-done' holidays and parties, nerfed at the end of the day.
PLC, NK, Scout - before 1.8.
That's right, I stack that OP Sh!t.

The more I think of it the more I agree. Just imagine how much work CCP wasted to limit WP/SP gain, prevent boosting or AFK farming and we still haven't git the rollover so there is even more developer work needed to make Active SP attractive. If all this development power had gone to the game...(And sadly none of this effort really worked)
Only passive SP solves a lot things but I guess CCP will never do the step even thogh most of our SP are already passively gained |

Are you 100! yet? 110? You feel accomplished?
There are other games. I've actually took time to do TLOU, Infinite and will start Dead Space 3 bought on the cheap a few days ago. Check in from time to time, but there is not point in forcing yourself.
Charlotte O'Dell wrote:Maybe it was that I was lagging even with a 50mb/s connection, or maybe it was the loading fittings glitch that happened over and over.
Throughput =/= latency. Haven't seen fitting glitch in months.

Nope. First of all you don't have everything proto. I'm 30M SP/300M ISK and I've got two proto suits, one advanced suit, two or three proto weapons and maxed out core skills.

Blah blah blah clone battlefield blah. Well yeah, that would completely STOP the GRIND that you started your argument with. LOL.

BB.
And when you grow a pair try skilling into scout or heavy and having fun again. I went proto Gal scout and I literally run 11k ISK Dragonfly scout 99% of the time. Two weapons I've got proficiency in, remote explosive and voila. Instant fun. Hell, when I get bored I run it with BPO SMG only.
And if I don't have fun I play other games. Because that's what not being a tryhard means.

Battle field got stale for me because you cant choose your progression, there is no sense of loss when you die, and no sense of ownership. When I call in my dropship its my dropship, not the maps dropship spawn point. Idk if you like that then play it, but dust is a damn good game. The only other thing I could suggest is try carving your own section of molden heath, sp and isk is only part of that. |

I'm an advocate of giving us lots of skills with lesser bonuses. So we would have say, 3 GÇ£tiersGÇ¥ in any proficiency skill but instead of giving 3% per level, it will give us 1%. Imagine having AR Proficiency 1 at level 5 (5% extra damage) and level 2 in AR proficiency 2 (for a total of 7% extra damage). The cost of proficiency 1 skills would be minimal, then tier 2 skills would be 2x multipliers, with proficiency tier 3 having a 3x multiplier.
Perhaps even have just two tiers: - AR Proficiency 1 (+1% damage per level, 1x multiplier) - AR Proficiency 2 (+2% damage per level, 3x multiplier)
Making skills cost the same overall but for a quicker boost ij the beginning is what will entice players to keep grinding.
Edit: The proficiency skill is just an example and you could do the same for any skill that provides a bonus like the basic armour or shield skills. |

Forget it lol , honestly there's really nothing new for me to do in this game that I want to do. I'm fine with the suits that I have right now. I don't want to go put my SP into vehicles, PC is expensive and laggy skirmish which isn't that different from the pub skirmish mode. Been playing Skirmish,Ambush and Domination for way too long now. FW is still mostly like pub skirmish matches also, plus I don't want to play it cuz we don't get any isk from it at all. It would be nice to get a bit of isk to live off the LP store. And meanwhile in my quarters..... well it's the same as it was in chromosme and whatever the weird build was that we had before that I barely played.

For me, Ambush has been entirely ruined by 1.7, I've never once enjoyed Domination (boring land slide matches every time), as a Gallente Dropship pilot, there is LITERALLY no incentive for me to play FW, at all, and PC for the longest time caused my system to lock up within the first minute.
Now I have a PS3 that just might not be lagged into submission, but I don't have an even close to consistent enough schedule to be relied upon for PC.
So, that leaves me with one game mode, Skirmish.
The game is just boring. No custom matches, no way to make good looking videos, no PvE, no marketplace to manipulate, no big maps to explore, tiny 16 vs 16 games that go entirely against the spirit of new edens strength in numbers.
It's just sad, and I have lost faith in DUST becoming what it was originally dreamed to be.

Nope, you are just waking up to the fact that this is what DUST was intended to be all along.

A very boring and dull lobby shooter? No it was suppose to be an MMO-FPS and no I'm not demanding a complete product. I'm demanding a reason to be here other than being stuck in my quarters and only being able to jump into quick random battles.

Spec into a meh suit and make it good, just like us scouts commandos do. Get on my level.

For a quick and easy method understanding why Dust players are unsatisfied with Dust gameplay please review this image and then compare it to what you can do in Dust. Until we have at least a fourth of the options displayed in that image available to us Dust is not a satisfactory extension of the New Eden universe.

Since you've lost your drive.....

Good use? What could you possibly spend the isk on? Oh wait I know, suits and vehicles for the same battle modes we've been stuck with. There really is no point in giving anyone isk in this game unless they've spent their isk unwisely. One example is constantly buying proto suits or just not making more money in the battles than you are spending on your suits and vehicles.
