*Alternate name: crucifier, or longinus (pronounced "lawn-jeh-nus", like longitude)*
[General idea]Basically a heavy scrambler rifle.
Amarr
Heavy weapon
Semi-automatic
High pinpoint hipfire accuracy
No scope or sight, but can zoom a bit like the HMG
High damage
Medium range
Low rate of fire
Heat buildup and overheat
Laser damage profile (+20% damage against shields, -20% damage against armor)
Decent against vehicles
Perhaps a charge ability, something more interesting than more damage.
[Preliminary stats (standard tier)] Damage: 190
Rate of fire: 60 rounds per minute (1 per second). If needed could be raised to 90 rounds per minute (1.5 per sec).
Damage per second: 190 (it fires 1 round per second). Could be raised with ROF if needed.
Accuracy rating: 70
Range (optimal/effective): 50/70 meters
Magazine: 20
Reload speed: 6 seconds
Overheat: after 11 consecutive shots (2,090 damage before overheating, enough to kill most heavies)
Feedback damage: 100
Efficacy all against vehicles: 50% (must also factor damage profile)
[Possible charge abilities]:Someone suggested i should have a charge function. I kind of like the idea, here are some possible charge functions it could have.
Continuous beam: fully charged, it could fire a beam that fires for a full 2 seconds.
Burst fire: When fully charged, three shots are fired in quick succession.
[Possible variants] Breach: more damage, less fire rate, possibly better damage efficacy percentage against vehicles.
Assault: more ROF, less damage.
Something else: does something.
[Purpose]A high alpha damage precision marksmen weapon suitable for anti-infantry combat from close to mid-long ranges, and capable dealing similar damage per second as a sniper rifle at close range with hipfire, wile also being semi-effective against vehicles for versatility.
The HMG is a great weapon for dealing with infantry at close range, but it is terrible for precision shots, and also terrible at mid-long ranges. The forge gun has amazing range, but the long charge time makes it not ideal for fighting infantry; the large aiming crosshair makes it not quite a precision weapon either. The impaler (or crucifier, or longinus) would provide heavies with a precision anti-infantry, and mid-long range option they are currently lacking, while also providing them modest anti-vehicle capabilities.
The impaler (or crucifer, or longinus) would allow a heavy to take the role of a good marksmen. he high alpha damage would make it very effective, but the low DPS would keep it from being overpowered.
"Why not just use a scrambler rifle and keep charge shotting?" That would be a recipe for very quick overheat, and the impaler (or crucifier, or longinus) would do more damage per second. The charge function of the scrambler rifle multiplies damage by 3.5, so a standard fully charged scrambler rifle does 252 damage, but the charge time is 2 seconds, so the damage per second is only 126. The impaler (or crucifier, or longinus) does 190 damage per second at standard tier, and largely exceeds the damage per second of charge shots. Furthermore, the impaler (or crucifier, or longinus) could fire 11 shots before overheating and dealing 2,090 damage, while the scrambler rifle would overheat after just 3 consecutive charge shots dealing only 756 damage.
[Appearance]A big long Golden Amarr weapon held similarly like the forge gun or HMG with handle is on the side of the weapon. The weapon envelops the hand of the holder. The shots should look like large bright and long bolts of energy (preferably electrical) that appear to impale targets on impact. Basically shoots spears of light.
