yea but thats the point of the new perk. So commandos will do better in their specialized weapons, then other people

have you guys seen what extra damage does in this game?
i can already see commandos being god mode with the only thing that can take them 1 on 1 being sentinels if they can even get close enough, or a sneaky scout.
Amarr commandos with SR will one-shot most assault and logi suits, and melt them within a second or two with a LR Caldari commandos with RR will two or three shot them, not to mention sniper rifles Gallente commandos will make the Duvolle AR a terror to be feared again
And they will be even scarier in city maps With Minmatar commandos waiting behind a corner one-shotting you with a combat rifle, or decimating groups of people with a mass driver And Gallente commandos will one or two shot them with a shotgun
Most importantly I think medium suits are getting the short straw in 1.8 because I mean, how useful is light weapon clip size, accuracy, etc. compared to the raw offensive power of a commando and defensive power of a sentinel?

The commando was always designed to be a damage dealer (the assault is more like a grunt of DUST) so this really doesn't surprise me in the least.

first of all both of the minmatar medium suits have always been the worst suits in the game
second caldari have been weak for a long time since they nerfed caldari assault; shields are bullshit in this game
most importantly medium suits were pretty evenly matched with heavies and scouts, and now they're going to be cannon fodder and I think that's stupid, this game needs to be balanced not biased

You obviously haven't been here long....the min logi had its day.....
I'm reffering to the long period of time where heavies turn speed was so low if anything got within 10 m you were screwed The period where the hmg was a laser beam that was useless in cqb The period of time where heavy run speed was lower and the Douvolle was THE weapon to use
Mediums have had their time buddy.....you're just late to the party

Yeah, they'll also be slow and with low stamina. They get all the negatives of the heavies and only half the HP. They won't be that bad. If you catch one out in the Open they are as good as dead. Think about it, the Amarr Commando has about 600 HP, and it will have the Most HP out of all the Commandos. Any well fitted medium suit will kill them without flinching.

My amarr commando has 800 HP.......and realistically that's not alot

Commandos are halfway between medium and heavy suits. We should change it to between light and medium suits. Then they will be glass cannons. They slaughter everything, but in turn are slaughtered by everything. This also means that they can use stealth to set up ambushes.
Best PVE idea I've seen.

As a person who has played EVE since 2005 and dust since open beta, I can confirm that CCP has a long history of overbuffing what was weak, and overnerfing what was OP. (Rather than merely balancing). I see nothing different going on here. Logi suits have been OP for a long time, and with the equipment nerf, and buff to non-medium suits coming in 1.8, they will become the new flaylock pistol (remember when people used to use those?). |

commandos may have power but they have the heavy frames P-scan strength. My Gal scout will have them chasing their shadows, and that's before I cloak up.
Also, I've hear that CCP will be reworking the Weapon Proficiency skills in 1.8 so to assume maxed commandos will have 25% more damage before mods may be a mistake.
Thr33 is the magic number.

That is the purpose of the Commando suit. Long range fire and suppression. However properly fitted a Commando can also offer Mid range fire support to a very effective level.
I already use mine, I already go 15+ kills a match, and I don't even fit damage modules.....now perhaps I will be on par DPS wise with you all.......then there will be hell to pay.

I think its good that the commando will start to see some use.
With the confirmation of a somewhat universal balancing of weapons maybe even the poor old plasma cannon will see some use

Since these weapons have been nerfed by approximately 10%. And than "Damage" proficiency is gone and than damager is nerfed. The Commando Bonus is erased by the rifles nerf. / Damager are lower / No more proficiency damage. They will NEVER be equal or more powerful than they actually are. So keep Calm and wait more informations.

As they are requiring.
They are exactly as Logibro describes them.
Aero put together a projected Commando skill tree that one should follow from Basic to Proto level gear, basic being the least combat function, barely able to combat most foes with something in the region of 3 million SP against it to the fully specced proto fit at something like 18-20 Million SP making the Commando perhaps the most combat efficient at range unit available to us players.
