Fact 1: Tac AR was nerfed with higher hipfire spread back in the day. Fact 2 (As we know it today): Gal assault bonus in 1.8 is -> Gallente Assault: 5% reduction to hybrid - blaster light/sidearm hip-fire dispersion and kick per level.
If you look at the above facts, do you think the Gallente Assault will be tailored for using the Tac AR in 1.8?
Assaulting is about covering ranges from CQC to medium/long (depending on race). And being versatile with your weapon.

dont forget they have mentioned rifle stats are changing so it wouldn't supriose me if they're slightly 'nerfed' to encourage use on their associated racial suit. if not i'm more interested in the KRIN. the thing already has amazing accuracy. same damage as duvolle but throw in the extra reduction to kick and spread and that thing is gonan be amazing!!

While it may improve the TAC the TAC will still only have 18 bullets in the magazine. It will still have a low RoF. I dont really see the TAC being much more than it had been for a while now - a niche weapon.
Why use the TAC when you can spec into the realm of Scrambler rifles? Same dmg per bullet, tons more ammo per magazine, better hip fire, better RoF and a charge mechanic to boot! Even on a non Amarr suit the scrambler is better, couple the scrambler with an Amarr suit and it is just godly.

Having lvl 5 operations and lvl 3 proficiency in it, You would do from a standard SCR about 80 hp a hit meaning you are doing some damage to the guy regardless of shield and armor. And on a prototype ASCR about 41-42 per shot.
The other advantage it has is the range not as much as the rail but somewhat there.

see those crosshairs when you arnt aiming down the sights?
thats dispersion, the bullet could end up anywhere between those crosshairs, although more oftin then not it will gravitate closer to the center then the outside.
the math behind it is basically as follows
when shooting the bullet starts at teh zero point, the exact center, but the game puts it though a formula to make it less pinpoint accurate.
the crosshairs represent the maximum the bullet can shoot off target (exact center of the crosshairs) |

IIRC the main nerfs to tac AR were to fire rate and clip size. It has only 56% of the fire rate and DPS and a mere 40% of the damage-per-clip of the ScR, its direct equivalent. So no, I don't think we'll be seeing many tac AR-wielding Gal assaults. |

Krin's AR seems to jam on the 63rd bullet.
I don't have prof 3 AR, so I couldn't tell you if it's only under continuous fire, though.

doesnt over heat as quick as something like a scrambler rifle and has a base accuracy of around 60% as it is. with proto assault and AR5 and SS5 the KRIN and even duvolle will actually be pretty formidable now and as has been mentioned it will also increase the range of the AR's in a way (more bullets will hit from a distance) and as i mentioned. the devs have said rifles are changing so RR/ScR ect may not be as op as they are currently.

I wouldn't.
Noone knows what CCP actually means by assaulting, they probably dont know themselves. Otherwise we wouldn't be a basic suit with skill bonuses.

I'm pretty sure it was the **** fire rate on top the small clip size that drove people away from the tac AR.

The assault bonus on the Gallente will only be for the AR if nothing's changed.
Shotgun will no longer function as it is supposed to (well, it'll turn the normal one to a useful breach) and the Plasma Cannon doesn't get affected at all. |

The shotgun won't really be affected. The shots only land in the centre of the reticule anyway.
