In the games current state it won't last past Destiny's launch, but if CCP does actually have something "evolutionary" for Dust at fanfest then it'll be interesting to see how things go. Only way I see people here staying with Dust is if we get whatever this "evolutionary" thing is during the summer or close to Destiny's release. And it'll be interesting to see how CCP plans to actually get new players if most people that are interested in the idea of an MMO-FPS are busy with Destiny.

Regardless of what CCP add that does not change the fact that too many players have exploited So no matter what they add (I'm sure it will be good) it is pointless to try compete with cheaters There needs to be a full ISK reset for corps who farmed their advantage Maybe more severe reprimand for those who also farmed SP and padded their K/D Without this, the only guys left will be the 8-13 year olds who want a free game And the guys who have exploited the game for their set of crutches CCP are on to something great with Dust514 but do they think other companies can't see that? By the end of this year, more games will be released with the same immersion as Dust And most likely by developers who will take action against exploiters no matter how much Cash they throw at the game, unlike CCP who farm $ before offering a balanced game
This year will be an interesting one for Dust 514

Even if they are not making a profit by now, I am sure they have an idea of when they would like to turn one. If they do not reach that profitability goal by their set deadline, then I can see them shutting it down. Most of us gamers, seem to forget that it is all about the cash. Developers are not here to make you happy. They are here to make bank. Period.
True, I guess that knowing if they don't succeed soon ( this month, fanfest and next updates not soon tm) then they won't be making any money much longer. Which will push them to actually make this game onto what is long overdue an MMO-FPS.

COVERT SUBTERFUGE wrote:The game isn't going anywhere. CCP will use EVE revenue to keep building the game up until it's absolutely not financially feasible to do so. However, I dare say CCP is doing just fine off of DUST 514. I also dare say the old saying that 80% of your revenue comes from 20% of your customers rings true here. Just about every random I have squaded with uses boosters. Some people won't be able to handle the work in progress nature of the game and will leave because they want it finished NOW which is unfortunate because that goes completely against the premise laid down by CCP on May 14th when they launched the game when they said that it was just the beginning of development. More people will take their place as word of mouth spreads the new advances of the game by those who stuck it out and stayed in the game. It's been a rough 6 months internally at CCP with clearly a lot of staff changes, in particular an EP who wasn't able to deliver. People who can manage their expectations should probably wait till FF to start standing on the street corner wailing "the end is nigh!" PC sucks for sure and CCP's lack of response has screwed over the economy but I don't really feel too much of the blow back other than the odd pub or FW match where I come across a proto squad. For the most part I'm still enjoying my time in game despite the bugs. I think I'm A LOT more laid back than most people here; I'm a visionary type myself, more interested in the big picture/end result than the necessity for everything to be perfect right now because I know that making anything massive and worthwhile isn't going to be done over night...just like Rome. I'm going to wait till Fanfest, see if the communication improves, see what Rogue has to say and see what the evolution entails. Till then I'm going to enjoy playing with my friends, being a Matari and levelling up my precioussssss COVERT SUBTERFUGE pride n joy into a scout badass. I can understand other people's frustrations, I just don't sweat the small stuff over obstacles that lay before the grand design...
Also waiting till fanfest to know if this game is going to die this year or not. I don't find much enjoyment in this game anymore but ya have fun dude.

Well for those who plan to stick with the ps3 there will be a ps3 version of Destiny also.

Zirzo Valcyn wrote:i won't recommend this game to anyone. i tried once and ended up embarrassed, dude was like "you actually think this is fun?" things like large turrets spammed across the map that headshots you when unmanned, KBM support, snare mechanic upon being shot, subpar aiming, frame rate issues, grinding for isk is not fun, the list is huge why no normal person could like this game.
The worst part is the SP and ISK grinding, that's all there is around to do besides PC/laggy expensive skirmish.

Galvan Nized wrote:CCP seems to be risking everything on the next build/evolution. They seem to be laser focused on that and care nothing else about the game.
It's a huge risk. You lose so many players in the interim that it is hard to make up the loss. Then you allow exploiters and cheaters free reign not even giving them a slap on the wrist.
CCP knows about the PC exploits and ISK faucet, they just don't care. All I know is fanfest better be Fing awesome.
It better cuz the survival of the game depends on it / wallets of all those on the Shanghai team depend on it.

I really hope "evolutionary" doesn't mean "look guys we "fixed" PC and made it so that you can farm even more, please break the economy even further with our newly released P2P Market!!"
I really don't care if they fix PC, unless they make a different type of skirmish for it or make it feel like you own the district

When Planetside 2 comes out dust will die for good fact destiny will kill it as well ps2 is comin out april dont even think about destiny thats at sept 2014 yea we got time Isn't Planetside 2 one giant fail just like dust? Neither game, has much of a population and PS2 is just as grindy as dust. Personally I think dust in its current state, blows. However, there are enough die hards, that I just do not see it dying off anytime soon.
I've heard plenty of negative things like that about Planetside 2, that's why I think Destiny is the only real competition for Dust this year. There's gonna be a ps3 version released at the same time the other versions are released. It's free to play but ya you d have to pay $60 dollars but after that there is no subscription fee. So for those that don't feel like getting a ps4 will not be switching to planetside 2 anytime soon unless they already have a PC that can run it but besides that they can get destiny for the ps3 so it is going to attract plenty of players that are tired of Dust if the game doesn't improve before Destinys release.

I can't think of a single mmo ever created that doesn't maintain a population with haves and have nots.
no game where the older players have serious overwhelming advantages over new players, they may not be pitted against each other on regular basis, but if you ever attempt to pvp in those games you'll find out about that advantage first hand pretty quickly.
my suggestion....just play the game and stop concerning yourself with other players. I been running pubs for two weeks now in a 15k miltia heavy suit, and been turning over tons of isk and getting pretty decent kill scores. isk means **** you don't need alot of it currently. 450HP Starter Fit =/= 900+HP Proto Fit. With the ridiculous amount of Money, Pubstompers can just spam Boundless's and Kaalkalatia's and Duovalle's with Their 900+ Assault suit constantly with no consequents besides lolISK loss.
Still don't see why they won't stop proto suits from being used in pub matches.
