This is literally one of my favorite weapons in dust 514 but it has gotten to a point where this weapon is no longer competitive and a piece of sh*t compared to rail rifle and combat rifle. I love this weapon because it's like a DMR from BF4 (the way it shoots, mag size and rof) but its damage is sooo freeeking compared to ROF and so is the rage. It is either increas ROF to 500 and range to 85 optimum and 120 max or increase damage from 80 to 100. the spread is immense so there will be no point in using it in CQC but it should be a absolute beast at long range combat to a point where it is neck and neck with Rails if not better because (it would be a niche weapon(only good at long to medium range)). The RR is good at both CQC and long so how bout the tac AR be bad at CQC (which it already is) but make it awesome for long range. Please CCP buff this weapon!! I love it soo much but it sucks man parts.

To the people saying it should be a ripoff orf the Scrambler Rifle: I think CCP should make the variants not worse, but fit the playstyle of their race. Like the Tac AR should be less of a tactical weapon, the burst should be designed more for CQC-lower medium range, etc...

Yep, that's how I use it GÇö as a marksman rifle. It's a better alternative to the sniper rifle under the circumstances. Great to use with a scout suit to flank.

This weapon and many others can take every buff they need and 550 sounds good...

I do that but it kind of gets pricey especially when I get like half-shotted by a rail rifle.

Usually I run a Dragonfly. Otherwise a light suit, not a scout suit proper.

I sometimes run it on my adv gallante ADV assault frame frame that preform like a scout. (speed, low profile and high scan radius and has scanner). But that's a 47k isk fitting.

Also, this is a Gal weapon so must be close to medium range. However, since the new rifles are only two variants then I could see the Tac AR being repositioned as the Gal sniper rifle and then that would justify the longer range.
Like the M-16 it is an assault rifle and a marksman rifle. A marksman doesn't necessarily have to one shot/one kill like a long range tactical sniper. A regular infantryman with an M-16 overlaps that role nicely. So the Tac would be valid as the Gal sniper rifle.

It is out DPSed by rail rifle and out ranged by rail rifle in its optimum range and the SCR is way OP compared to DPS and Range of TAC AR. The Optimum of the proto is 60m with a max of like 80 something which is way less than the other weapons especially the SCR.

here is the problem with trying to make it better/compete with other weapons in a "category". When we first got dust, all it had was the Gallente AR's and its variations. Though, slowly (VERY slowly), we have received new AR's, with their own niche (though some may cross over to much in a sense).
This then brings us back to the AR variations : Breach, Burst, Tac. Each in their own right in their hayday had a certain role. Now, that role is less b/c of the other racial rifles, which makes sense. if you look at the Gallente AR, as their base weapon, which is it; the variation modes are their attempts to copy the abilities of the other racial variant weapons.
Burst = Mini Tac = ScR Creo = RR
By speccing into the Gallente AR branch of weapons, it gives you a tasting of each racial weapon in this category, but they don't compete to the racial true variants ... why should they?
If you have these copy attempt weapons being on a closer/equal ground with the racial specific weapons, what is the point to spec into the racial weapons when you get them all in one weapon choice?? By only having to use 620k SP, you get a variation of weapons to use for different situation, but will be beat out by the racial specific weapon in that situation though, which makes sense. If you want the "dominating" feeling, you should spec into the racial weapon.

The proto type variants of ARs (breach, burst, Tac) are awrful. If we had militia rail rifles, they would preform better than the proto breach. If we had militia SCR, Proto Tac would preform worse than it. Why should I pay 77k isk for a Tac AR when i can put 12k sp into SCR and get a better weapon for 1/77th the cost.

maybe that's the point ... as racial specific weapon will outperform the copy weapons, even at a basic- proto level . That could be the cost of getting 4 variants at proto for 620k; when if you choose a racial specific, you only get 1 for the 620k

That's just stupid... Then what is the point of having these piece of sh*t weapons in the game? anyway 4 variants take like 48k sp if you spec into variants and they are hella lot cheaper.
48k sp vs 620k sp 1500 isk vs 77,000 isk.
Edit: =no balance
even the "CQC" king AR is outperformed in its niche by RR, CR, ScR.

The assault Scrambler Rifle has been out for quite some time and still performs slightly better than AR.
I would be impressed if they balance the other assault variants to be crap compared to a basic AR. You know, like the AR variants are crap next to their real counterparts?
Also, when is the AR going to be renamed?! |

Dont worry, the ROF is low and the modded freaks are gonna run out of ammo in seconds especially with the recoil.

I love this weapon because it's like a DMR from BF4 (the way it shoots, mag size and rof) but its damage is sooo freeeking low compared to ROF and the rage.
It's supposed to be worse. It was never meant to be competitive. It's a cheap knockoff for lack of proper SP allocation.
You are paying the price for lack of specialization. You will continue to pay the price until you specialize correctly. |

wow.. please tell me what is wrong with buffing Tac AR? Why do we have so many useless weapons in the game? WHY?? I want every weapon to be useful in their own niche and apparently, right now, the AR's dont have a niche because they are outclassed by every weapon.
