LAVs should suffer a 30% reduction in speed per heavy plus armor plate penalties as well. So an LAV with 1 heavy goes 70% of total speed. Armor plate penalties should, also stack into this speed penalty. A heavy with complex armor plates suffers 5% (I think) to speed, and should also tack onto LAV speeds. A heavy with 3 complex armor plates can only operate an LAV at 55% of total speed. Obviously, the penalty should extend to overdrives and whatnot as well. I realize some players suck so terribly, this is their only win button. So, let's take it away. Let's put some physics into it.
Weight should have consequences. Heavies shouldn't be able to strafe or turn as fast a scouts, or med suits. Med suits, also shouldn't be able to turn or strafe as fast as light suits. Armor plating adds mass thus weight and should in turn penalize turning and strafing speeds. This is way to cartoony otherwise.

30% penalty for him too?
Heavy can't strafe as fast as anyone else can. Because they're slower, you know?
Add an entry-exit animation and that LAV issue is sorted.
Good point. Armor plates period should have an effect!

With armor plates basically zero. No armor plates 10% of top speed.. so 10 mph or whatever (can;t recall if it's m/s, K/PH or M/PH)

If you have a team, one person should have a swarm launcher &/or forge gun, kill him before he gets out or force him out at a distance he can't kill you from... Or shoot him in the head while he's driving, maybe get a grenade ready for when he jumps out and "Boom!" one shot kill... Got a few Remotes laying about, drop a few around yourself, either kill the jeep or kill him when he gets out. This heavy jumping out of a jeep thing really isn't a big problem, the problem is you running around like a headless chicken on your own, making it nice and easy for him.
I kill heavies all the time. Face to face with knives, so don't take it as QQ. To take it as QQ from me would be your problem.
If you think physics should have no place in this game, well, then.. I'll have no problem kicking that crutch out from under you.
Go git gud crutch scrub.

You guys win. In lieu of physics:
I started stealing my own team heavies LAVs and driving off just far enough to give them hope to catch up.. then I skittle along a little... and just when they think the can get in, I drive a bit more ahead. I love when they start shooting their own car in frustration.. then I take off and hit them a few times. Like a smack in the face. haha.. pretty fun ****. Then I load up their LAV with REs and take out tanks.
But you also are right.. why fight it? So I joined in. I have 3 LAV BPOs, so I just set up a couple for JLAV purposes. But I also now zip around and hit heavies. Usually it takes a few times, but all the practice I got back in the killer cab days paid off +50! I like also jumping out and tossing REs at their feet and blowing them up. Fly fatty fly!!
And that is just when I am messing around. Usually, my scout team and I just work heavies with knives and CR/Fluxes. Believe me, heavies are easy kills. It's especially cute when they are far out of range and their HMG bullets tinkle off my scout suit as I maul them with my basic CR in my ADV minja suit. Once the shield is gone.. oops. Maulage.
So yea. I don't get owned. I do die, but it's no biggie. I just want to see some physics in the game. You ever see a hoopdie at the McDs drive through packed with loyal customers? Yea.. that muffler dragging and causing sparks is the result of too much mass. Can you guys follow, or are you going to hold on to the hope I actually suck

Jack Boost wrote:Leovarian L Lavitz wrote:Should also apply to tanks. Or, heavies will just roll around in tanks. Oh, and dropships too!
edit- in the case of dropships, it should make the dropship heavier on the side with the heavy, so if his is on the right center side, the dropship will roll/slide in that direction and the pilot's gotta adjust for it.
If the heavy is flying in the cockpit, then the hole dropship leans forward and the pilot has to correct for it. if every seat is full of heavies, then the dadgum thing probably couldn't even take off without ab. At dropships: - we need to freely change seats in it. This give your squad onboard unique ability to take far more curved turns in dropship (like bobsleigh). This new 'zig-zags' are only answer for redline rail sniping. REMEBER YOU NEED FULL SQUAD OF HEAVY'S TO DRIVE DROPSHIP NOW!
I'd think dropshisp could handle heavies, but move at a slower speed. Not list like an overweighted boat.

The bolded parts i found hilarious. They take away any credibility you thought you had. Armor plates do reduce turn and strafing speeds. Weapons have different turning speeds, the slowest being the HMG and FG, you know the "heavy" weapons. Edit - Over 2k likes eh? Oh man, i hope you are a "Vet". Your ignorance for this long would greatly add to the humor.
Um.. how the **** would I know armor plates affect such things? I don't run heavy, I only know what info CCP supplies me. you may have missed the memo, but all suits were afforded equal strafe and turn speeds a few builds ago.
And yup. I'm closed beta vet. Nothing to be proud of.

Dr PepperPoP wrote:I hate these 'nerf heavies in LAV' threads. OF course you do. If you want to move fast, run a scout. You're okay with RR owning everyone at 100m. False. I never said that. But isn't the issue everyone hates that RRs kill you at 10m?Or how about ScR killing everyone else in every other range? I run an adv minmatar scout suit mostly. SCRs instantly kill me. Like OHK. I never complain about it, but I have acknowledged it. I would never even pick one up.How about RE's exploding when you already down the guy who tossed it down at your feet like a nade? I think that REs shouldn't be detonated by a downed person, and from what I understand CCP is "fixing" that. I am with you tho. it's lame.
How about dat tank spam? No one can say I haven't spoken out against tank spam repeatedly. But I figured out how to be pretty fuckin good at JLAVing, so I'm now ok with it until it gets fixed.. I mean, I hope it gets fixed. How about those crappy maps where even flat ground has a tendency to turn into quick sand? I have been complaining about terrain as a scout since closed beta. I think, you and I, are actually on the same page on 90% of dust issues o7 But... a heavy trying to make up for his weaknesses by using an LAV that has been drastically nerfed... yea, that needs fixing. It doesn't take a coordinated team to take down a heavy in an LAV - just one AV guy - doesn't even have to be proto. Since the LAV nerf any QQ over heavy in LAV should of died out - just admit your not smart enough to think to carry AV nades and leave us fatties alone.
I'm a speed tanker. You are a heavy. Lack of speed is your weakness. Lack of EHP is mine. Despite that, I kill far more heavies than kill me. Like I said, I just want physics. You guys seem to want best of both worlds.. speed and EHP.

You know what would actually be productive?
A new vehicle made for transporting heavy troops. All militaries in the world have them. Why shouldn't dust?
LAVs are light vehicles. There should be an HAV transport vehicle.

Imagine being a scout! We've been nerfed repeatedly since 1.0. Every single patch brought on a further nerf. In fact, a heavy rolling around at speed in an LAV that is instantly delivered is a nerf to scouts who speed tank.
But to that point, I've been playing this game since day 3 or so. And I just posted how I adapted in a matter of two days and listed what I did. I'd rather just see some real value add to the overall strategy of the game, not preserving some silly LAV mechanic for heavies.
Edit: The speed is limited on terrain for everyone. I roll around head over heels too
