That is the question.
being a vet with 30mil SP affords me the ability to chase FOTM on an infinate loop from here on in as i have all my core skills maxed and can only really skill into extra dropsuits and weapons (and vehicles) from this point forwards.
traditionally i have always ended up playing purly minmatar, wich just happens to be the weakest race at the moment at in the future of 1.8 (for the msot part)
im also, to my own disbelief quite good at this game and my ability to perform at my best is now seriusly hampered by my suit and weapon selection most of the time.
im also fairly good at predicting FOTM and manipulating game mechanics to counter things.
so im at a crossroads, chase FOTM and use suits/weapons that alow me to compete with other people of equal skill also using FOTM or minmaxing or do i simply stop progressing skill wise in this game and stop trying to compete at that level and use sub-optimal builds effectivly handycapping myself for no aparent reason.
this is something thats really difficult because while on one hand i dislike the kind of mentality that one has to min max in extreme ways to gain every edge but on the other hand dust is so rediculasly imbalanced that it comes to a point where you cannot overcome that imbalance with skill alone leaving me in a situation where skill wiseif i simply skill into and use FOTM or counter FOTM i can easily dispatch with people who dont have the RL skills to back up the gear they are using.
dust isnt balanced enough to be able to overcome gear with skill and at this point im feeling that if i want to be able to compete and counter i have to play as dirty as they do.
This sucks. |

i already have my proto assault and logi minmatar suits....
math tells me that reguardless of nerfs the amount of SP you gain can always be saved and piled into whatever FOTM is next :P so nerfs dont scare any FOTM chaser that has as much SP as i do.
my problem is that im the type of person who spends 5 million SP on combat rifles.... no jokes i maxed it day 1 with the vehicle refund.
the real problem is that CCP cant balance worth a damn and show absolutly zero signs of being able to do so in the next 12 months. so EHP will always be king and its about to be heavys with light weapons 514 for about 3 months untill they do something about it.
i have enough SP to infinatly chase FOTM at this point, i just have an odd habbit of wanting to collect as many 5s as i can rather then skill into the bare minimum to make something work.
i think i have over 30 skills at level 5 right now. including hacking, biotics, LW operation, SA operation, Explosives, CPU, PG, shields, Armor, and every other core skill you can think of.
at this point the only think preventing me from stomping the living daylights out of people is my habbit of using something that isnt FOTM and constantly running around in basic suits and joke fits because i can, hell i ran around with a minmatar basic medium with 2x calas SMG yesterday jsut because i felt like it.
and dropships are useful but not a full time thing... patrick your always benched so how would you know how i fly :P |

the new sentanal stats if they remain unchanged will mean the optimal builds will be
cal and gal sentinals
cal and gal scouts
min and gal logis
using whatever rifle is hurt the least by the inevitable nerf bats.
sentinals for killing everything, logis for repping sents, and scouts for hunting repper/scan logis
special mention to the minmatar commando wich will be the only decent counter to the gal sent.
the rifles are probably going to face near equal nerf bats so rail is still probably king because of the range, and we may see a shift towards duvolle and CR in extreme cqc depending on changes.
ive got a good handle on what the metagame will be. it just makes me sad that theres only 3 roles in the game post 1.8 chubby, chubby chaser, and chubby chaser hunter. and even then only half of those suits will be viable on top of that limitation.
its either join them or get stomped by them. |

the difference is your used to seeing me using adv gear thats compairably underpowered VS other races.....
imagine me in an optimal minmaxed setup....
its not a pretty sight.
i loaded up a minmatar assault with a proto rail rifle one day and kept getting over 40 kills a game without breaking a sweat.... now picture that but a brick tanked caldari suit... or a future heavy.... |
