UPDATE, HOLY BALLS GUYS
Ok, I loathed the cloak, I couldn't NOT use it cause unlike other classes I can't take getting hit from another cloaked scout waiting for me, which forced me to use it, and even with the cloak I couldn't kill heavies. Well, things of changed, A LOT.
First of all, thanks for the kind words and for Lightning xVx for showing me some things. I would say it was one part learning some things and one part gear and SP shortfalls.
Some lessons I have learned for my scout brothers
1. Don't waste advanced suits til you have complex modules, don't waste proto suits until you have complex everything 2. Understand however, that losing ten 12K suits, is equal to five 37K suits, is equal to one proto suit. * The sooner you start taking chances with expensive suits, the sooner you start REALLY learning hit and run tactics and stop dying so often. 3. Having a tanked scout will let you die slower, having speed on a scout will let you run away and live to re-engage. * I have literally room through a room of enemies without taking a hit. 9.29 double enhanced kin kats is the slowest I would recommend to try this though. 4. Sometimes running solo is less stressful; you don't have to prove yourself to your squad and can focus on taking better chances. 5. Run with an alpha weapon and proto it. You don't have to use a proto just pick one for the bonuses. Shotgun, knives, hell even plasma cannon, what is the point of getting the positioning and jump on someone if you can't kill them. 6. Understand you will not come into where you want to be with a scout until you are at least 12 mil SP (provided that the entire 12 mil is in ONE suit and core skills, I have ONE proto weapon with no proficiencies yet). 7. Complex shields, get em'. Allows you to maintain speed and doubles your health. Game changer really. 8. You can learn all the fits and have all the people give you tips all day long, you have to learn some things for yourself. 9. When I started running advanced and proto I started losing money, but now that I have changed my play style and care a lot more about how I approach and fall back I die less and am starting to make money again. (Even running advanced 37K a suit) 10. Something that Lightning told me that I never really believed was that your most powerful ability was not to kill people but making them think you were going to kill them. It's true.
* I was at a point and I hacked it, and then proceeded to kill 10 people in a row, they started spawning in scouts, then moved to heavies and then just stopped coming. At one point, it got to hot and I had to run 100 meters out and regen, I wasn't in the area of where 4 people were for 2 minutes and no one hacked because they were scared I was still around. I ran back in after preparing and got a 4 kill streak in 2 secs because they had stacked up on the point trying to hack it together.
Don't give up, last night I ran 20/1 14/5 20/0 and 18/2.
Advanced G/1 Gal 2 complex shields 2 enhanced kin kats 1 militia PG upgrade 1 basic magsec 1 proto knives basic flux basic cloak
Also, send me a email and I will be happy to 1 on 1 if anyone wants some tips, understand that my training is from someone who is at 12 mil SP though. I know a lot of people have better, but if you still want tactics and you are higher than me I would be glad as well to run with you. |

The things I see Moody, George666, Jolly Roger and V do are crazy. I forget that 3 months of getting instakilled is not long enough to get gud, I need another 8 months.
I literally cry for new players. I hope CCP is serious when they state that they want to make it easier to skill into things earlier and cost less to use proto. The gap between advanced and proto is a little extreme. Why no 22, to 44, to 66. Cause the 22, 33, 66 of shield extenders is just one example of a pay to win game. I can only afford to get to level 3 on shields cause then is gets crazy expensive SP so I should use AUR. ThatGÇÖs not cool, otherwise I have to do double the amount of damage that a proto needs to do to kill me?
Making sure you are still playing the game. Scouts don't quit, we just respawn. XD He still plays. He shotgunned my face just a couple days ago, and with all the buffs scouts got (better bonuses, more slots, etc), I'm sure he's having a better time of it.
I actually rarely use shotguns, I got them to 4 and hopefully the hit detection will get fixed with them and I will use them more often but I love my knives, I like to look into your eyes as I kill you, one of the most difficult maneuvers I had to learn to pull off is to sprint up to the back of a running man and jump towards him so I can charge in the air and come down right off his back and be in range of knifing him. Of course, 1 out of 12 tries the target will pick that point to stop running or maybe run out of stamina or check his six and I will sail past him and be easy mode for murdering. I can't wait for this sidearm event to be over because the magsec isn't really the best weapon to run with knives, itGÇÖs only really been a finisher for me. |

Nocturnal Soul wrote:You can't just offer you isk like that It takes the meaning out of "can I haz isk", now like 1 comment said you can't just quit because you can't kill a heavy. You have to think before you attack a strong target. Bait them into a trap, let them think you ran off or something then finish them. Heavies have a 3 step process.
1. Get attention 2. Bait 3. Blow them freaking sky high with an RE
Seriously why don't you have remote explosives yet?
Thanks all for the positive comments
I have remotes and used to use them all the time (basic ones) however, advanced heavies can now live through them, and proto literally shrug them off. Also, heavies are EVERYWHERE now. But like I have stated, I have learned some things. Speed is absolute KING against heavies. I don't even need my cloak, I don't even need to weave, I can simply outdistance them in plain sight in ever since I started speed tanking. The range on the HMG is pretty balanced I say, when I was 8.01 I was dead, period, now that I run 9.29 I can outrange them before they can kill me. I can wear them down, and now with the knives at proto I can actually kill them before they turn around. I have dropped RE on my primary fit because I have been running advanced and need the cpu/pg for other gear, I included my fit a couple posts back. |

I watch the cool youtube videos of cyrius li moody and totally want to be a scouty lone wolf. I have put 90% of my 5.8 mil SP into scout suits, dropsuit upgrades, shotguns and pistols. And canGÇÖt do jack, I was following a heavy for 20 feet depressed about how I knew once I started firing I was going to be dead. Fired first round, took his shields out, he turns around faster than I can, fired second, half his armor is gone, I start strafing and jumping, before I get to fire the third, his (insert whatever weapon you want here, but usually a RR) kills me. I have basic shields and reactive plates, 99 shields and 168 armor. Lately its been poor detection and rubber-banding that have been helping speed me on to the clone tank. Other times, like 50% of the matches I played last night, (I guess everyone is trying to cap out really fast?) It was proto stomp after proto stomp, one murder taxi squad was flipping using a proto scanner. Anyho, who wants my isk, I think I am done.
Moody dies alot to he just doesnt show those vids like any good you tuber... Seriously ask mustard or nausea they will tell you the life of the scout it to die alot, unless your roner, with the proto and six kin 24 7, though I did smash his face in with my six kin 2 days ago.... Hi, swag... lmao jkjk, man you will get better with it, its just time.

I find running solo helps with not getting as stomped, scotty doesn't put as many squad vs random as much, so usually its random vs random. I still have to run squad if I ever want to bring it up to the next level, but until I am sitting at 17 mil SP I will take my victories were I can. |

The shield extender level 5 are pretty much the only ones worth using for sure, especially on a cal scout.
your gallente scout, however, is great at dampening.
Get your profile dampening to at least level 3 before using dampeners, but getting this skill to level 5, coupled with your scout bonus to profile dampening will multiply your results.
Get some dampeners in your suit also to stay under prototype scanners. You typically want to stay under 26 decibels but it should not be hard for a gal scout to get well under 20 decibels.
This is great, especially for my nova knife bros out there. The weapon doesn't show up on radar, so even when you are not cloaked (attacking) it is pretty important for nobody else to know that you are there. Think of the dampeners as your invisibility cloak for when you are not invisible (because you will never show up on anyone's radar) |

You go up, what is likely a proto heavy with 4x the SP you have, and you complain because he smites you for almost killing him? I've had so many of you little shotgun toting pansies give me so much trouble, it's a little stupid ._.
Mostly because after I kill one dancing shotgun princess, there are two more I have to deal with D:<

first lesson: cloak is required.
no ifs ands buts ors. cloak; get it now.
2nd lesson: when cloaked, slow and steady wins the race. this means you never sprint with a cloak. ever. This makes you more visible than a gallente hugging a tree :-). usually 1/2 walking speed is enough to keep you well hidden.
3rd lesson: weapon. weapon. weapon. choosing the correct weapon usually determines your tactics on the battlefield. from your previous posts i'm guessing you use either rail rifle or shotgun. I'll explain both. Railguns will typically let you make the most out of range. you will have to find places when cloaked that your enemy won't easily find you. for me this is usually on top of crates and on ledges. after you have found a good place to perch, you sit and wait. If it takes more than 60 secs for an enemy to pop out, then move on. if it doesn't, slaying is relatively easy. while cloaked, put the centered do on their head, tap R2 to change to rail and shoot them dead. shotguns require CORE skills more than anything on today's battlefield. the sciencce seems simple; run up behind them and shoot, right? well no. shotguns take speed to operate, which is why if you want to fit one you'll need advanced kinetic katalyzers. atleast 2. you'll then enter what's known as speedy gonzales mode, where you can run much faster than any other scout. when approaching someone with a shotgun, I found the easiest way to slay is aim for the mid-back section, jump, and fire. this will make sure that your first shot is to the head. always. once you have fired the first shot, never hesitate. shot over and over. often, that headshot will only get heavies to 50% health, so you need to keep shooting.
cloaks are a great way to take out tanks. Tanks have lower visibility than most infantry, so you can move faster when taking down a tank. this is just a tidbit, I can usually take down a tank singlehandedly if i run up to a tank, cloaked, and toss some REs on it (REs are sticky now, so throw the ON the tank ).

use cheap suits and get good at it, I made almost 40 kills in a 11k suit, I think it's 12k now but I can get over 20 kills. Find groups and get behind them
yesterday on my schecter 666 account i got behind and killed 4 molon labe with 1 clip (on domination where A is on the hill where people camp on the roof all game), I should have been filming but it was late into the game and they were winning so I didn't record from the start, 2 were repping and the other 2 were heavies so I had the advantage but still, 4 guys in one foul swoop, sounds like a wild friday night right? |

Thanks, I am amazed at the last 4 or 5 posts, it's like they didn't even read the opener, but whatever, its advice, and they are trying to help. lol, I especially like how they keep saying I am a qq'ing shotgun scout when I don't even use them.
I wouldn't call it beast mode, but it certainly feels better to be over a 1 KDR on most matches. I don't really agree or want to see people going 40 something's because that means there are some people having a truly horrible experience and I don't think dust is long for a game like that. I usually try to send an email to the lowest scorers (on both teams) and see if I can't help em out.

My one scouting tip for fighting heavies: Hit and run tactics. Period. Use the geometry to your advantage. they trying to hold a door? shoot them in the back and run out the door you came in before they can return fire. repeat(use your minimap to keep an eye on their heading) until they die because without a logi, their regen is slow as hell.
you'd be surprised just how many heavies you can take down with bursts of fire over time instead of full auto for two seconds.
If you hear the words "WORTH IT!" look about, something hilarious just happened.
