Hey people, with 1.8 on the horizon and the much needed buffs to heavy suits and scouts, as well as the changes in logis, I'm wondering where that's going to leave the assault suits going forward. I'm curious as to how competitive the assault suits will be in what I imagine will be a much different meta. I've yet to skill into this character's assault suit due to uncertainty about being competitive post patch.
You'll have the walls of death heavies at the front, invisible assassins at your back, logis keeping them both standing, and commandos doing...... what they do. What will be the assaults role in keeping up and making a difference in the battlefield? (btw, this isn't so "buff this, nerf that" call to arms in the slightest, just wondering about the future. That's all). |

I know many disagree (especially the SCR users for good reason) but the +% to ROF for the assault suits was promising to me because it meant that the suits would be the best way to keep damage up with the more powerful heavies coming, but with that gone (and the commandos getting the equivalent bonus to damage) it's left me uneasy. |

Alright, let me throw this question out there to see if I can get a view of the bigger picture.
You're in a caldari or gallente assault suit playing a domination match solo or with a squad, on let's say, line harvest. What's your main course of action for success here? What's the goal?
If I were a sentinel or commando, it would be to hold the fort close to the objective and not allow anyone to pass a certain line.
If I were a scout, it would be to sneak around, destroy important equipment, and take down enemy heavies and ruin their fortification.
If I were logistics, it would be to find a good spot to setup an equipment stronghold and keep our allies and defenses standing.
If I were assault, I would....uhhhh... use the shoot bangs to kill the bad guys. Maybe hack the objective if the logis haven't gotten to it first? Hold the objectives waiting for the heavies to show up? destroy the equipments before I'm discovered and blown to shreds under enemy lines?
Don't get me wrong, I actually like the suits, but I'm not too sure what my role in all of this is would be with a better balanced meta. Would really like to hear some suggestions however. |

Alright, after some more testing and trying different assault styles, Marauder was right and this things is build to zerg if you use it correctly, and I really can't imagine using any other suit. I'm dual tanking my suit to great effect and leading the charge with these tactics. I'm almost positive I'm going to skill into the Assault C-1 but I'm holding off until i see what the bonuses for it will be because I seriously hope it's not still reload speed for rail weapons (the rail rifle's reload is no issue).
A boost to shield extenders was fine, +% rail weapon ROF or a minus to the charge time to the rail weapons would make it so that the Caldari would be it's true masters, etc. Something like what the other races get for their weapons that make the suits worthwhile. In hindsight the bonus cpu/pg for weapons opens up a lot of possibilities for destruction on this build, but I still think there might be better options. |
