i've personally been liking all the heavies. it's 750k sp for doing what i do on a daily basis! how could one not like that?
on the flip side, i want the 750k sp from playing as a heavy, but i just HATE playing as a heavy. i'm not going to speak for everyone, but for a scout like me, heavies are WAY too slow, the HMG is too easy to use, and...*shudders* it gets SCANNED...
i've tried playing as a heavy for the event, but i think i've only managed about 200 kills before i caved and went back to scout. i just don't like the feel of the heavy. i don't like being able to sit back in my chair, not even trying, and get a ton of kills. i like to feel like i earned my kills, not just sneeze in someone's direction and get 10 kills.
i guess i'll try to finish up the heavy side of the event, but i doubt i'll be able to last very long.
what about all of you? how do you feel about the event?

I barely notice events are going on. I play like I normally play and sometimes rewards end up in my character selection screen.
There isn't any fanfare or hoopla being made over the event. A single paragraph adorns the events screen. Just, "Kill some heavies, get stuff. Kill stuff as a heavy, get stuff."
And yeah, I can't fit heavy suits. "Sprinting" as a heavy hurts my soul. I do enjoy the FG though; wish there was a medium suit that could somehow fit heavy weapons.

I play mostly logi, but I have a bit of SP in heavys too, even with 1400 HP I feel like i get 5 shoted by RRs, and I dont know about "to easy to get kills" I kill most heavys from a distance and they dont have a chance to even fight back (tho I sure dont kill them in as fast as RRs kill me, must resist RR FoTM"

I've been playing both Scout and Heavy, both in MLT dropsuits with STD weapons for max profit. It's definitely the least entertaining event I can remember. The only enjoyment I've found is seeing all of the Proto stuff I've been against, especially the Heavies, and wrecking their wallets while mine slowly fills up.
Maybe one day we'll all amaze at the glow of a simple stat tracker and instant payouts.

Yeah the HMG heavy is pretty much as easy mode as it gets. I enjoy my mostly-BPO HMG heavy because it's the cheapest thing that can go toe to toe with a bricked proto slayer logi and win consistently. It's relaxing to play- your gun shoots a big old cone of bullets, you've got more than double the EHP of most people on the field, and the voice in my head doesn't shriek at me to flank all the time.
Anyone who says the HMG needs a buff is an idiot. In 1.8 sentinels are going to be insanely powerful. My only hope for 1.8 balance is that the cloak is actually effective, as opposed to Halo-style where anyone with eyes in their head can easily pick out a cloaked player moving around the map. |

Also, you know it's a 750k cap total right? Not 750k from getting kills as a heavy and 750k from killing heavies? So you don't actually have to use a heavy if you don't feel like it. |

I've seen plenty give the heavy try and struggle with it, others pick it up and wreck with it. It varies from person to person. Writing off a whole group of players as using ez mode is dismissive and demonstrates a mentality of everyone sucks but me.
I could post my games as a scout where I did rediculously well and claim not being scanned = ez mode but I recognise there are real flaws to the suit that hopefully will be addressed.
So go ahead and epeen. You look like a fool (I'm sick of the bitching about heavies, 1.8 comes and scouts will be called the whiny cry babies who need op suits and have no gungame). |

I think the heavy with HMG is the king of tight (no strafe) halways and cittys with lots of turns to force people in close. but beyond 20m with room enough to strafe im going to beat even a proto heavy hands down every time.
I dont think the HMG needs a buff, it dose what it dose well, even beats out shotgun users majority of the time in citys for turn corner pownage.

If you're beating proto heavies at 20m it just means they've grown soft from having too many big CQC targets. If you've got the skills to track your target, the HMG will win out to about 25m, or 30m with the AHMG.
Bayeth: No one is saying that there aren't some incredibly skilled heavies out there, and these skilled heavies show it by crushing both everyone else and their fellow heavies. However, the characteristics of the heavy class, and the HMG especially, make it a forgiving role for those who do lack precise aim or quick reactions.
