Right now I would say over half of the games (Half of the maps) run at an unsatisfactory frame rate. It also seems like things are worse now in terms of performance than they were just a few months back. Specifically the "city" maps have terrible performance. This is making it so hard to aim or even do much of anything.
I have tried changes options to 'low' but it seemed to have very little [if any] affect.
Are CCP aware of performance issues? Is there anything they are doing to help remedy this situation?
Is there anything else I can do to help improve performance and frame rate? (Low performance issues are really bugging me, so much so that they alone are making me not want to play )

Awry Barux wrote:If you really really want higher performance, I think you can set your PS3 to display at 720p or 480p instead of 1080. I've never felt the need for it, honestly my frame rate has been pretty good recently.
The game natively runs at 720p already so there is no change there. I could lower it to 480p but that would look absolutely terrible on my native 1080p screen. Besides this is 2014, I should not have to do such hideous things just to get the game running at a decent frame rate.
I dont expect lightning fast high end gaming computer levels of performance, but some maps are usually around 25-30 fps which is fine. However I was playing earlier and map after map was just shocking performance. Trying to aim a forge gun when the frame rate is at like 15 fps is just ridiculous.
So is changing down to 480p the only viable solution to getting decent frame rates?

I've heard turning off voice chat can fix lag issues.
No, lag is not the same as low performance. The latency was fine. I have very good fibre optic 30+ mb speeds. I am talking about the performance of the game its self. You know when it starts to get choppy and its not smooth? (That's the best way I can describe it if you are not familiar with frame rate)

Funkmaster Whale wrote:This has been the state of the game since its inception. Chromosome ran a lot smoother but it still had its problems, although nothing matches the atrocity that is the Gallente Lag Facility. At this point I'm thinking CCP just straight up doesn't know how to optimize it due to limitations in PS3 specs and/or Unreal Engine. You pretty much just have to live with it if you want to play, which is why I've taken many a break from this game due to the issue. On PC games I can at least turn down my settings and mess with config files to get a smooth running game, but not here.
Ahh man I have been building my own computers for years now. I have a pretty good gaming rig (admittedly its ageing a little now) but I have not had to turn down settings or run at sub 30fps since I was a kid.
I know this is a PS3 console and I have to accept it, however the game was never this bad in terms of performance! No other games I have on PS3 are like this neither.
Yes that Gallente facility is a great map to play on but is one of the worse for frame rate.
If there is nothing more to be done then I guess I might as well give up with DUST. I mean I physically can barely play on half of the maps. I wish this game was out for PC
