its a turret gun thats bigger than light weapons and its mounted on a vehicle and its probably the worst weapon in the game, if you gave heavys the ability to rip them off a vehicle and carry em around halo style they would still suck very bad, why? why are they so awful, even if you boosted them up to be as strong as a large blaster turret taking people out in a shot or two it still wouldnt be any more obnoxious than tanks or heavys riding around jumping out killing you then running away (im not saying they should be that strong) but a 50 cal in real life mounted on a humvee rips people up and we get this future gun with horrible range, horrible damage and no protection for the gunner. its easy enough to shoot someone off a turret and lav's arent that much of a threat anyway, what, average ones go down in like 3 packed av nades or two railgun shots they arent that bad, why cant the blaster turret be better? is there a reason for it that i dont understand? does anybody else feel that way or am i alone on that one?

Small blasters are balanced around the OLD time to kill. You can compare to see how many buffs all the handheld guns got over the past year by this..
It used to be that an engagement could be won by use of cover and positioning. Now we cannot do that because of the damage output, and spraying as soon as within face-range is all people do anymore.

Because they're Gallente.
Shield regeneration bonus for Gallente Assault is about as useful as Sharpshooter for Nova Knives.

Hit detection on small blasters is abysmal... Test it... i would say even on target 50% of your shots are missing or not registering at all..
Dropships with Heatsinks and a Blaster used to be the way to gun out of one properly... Could sit there and spray endlessly without overheating and very minimal recoil as the turret was mounted... but required someone that could aim...
Missiles right now are silly... They are built like the Old school flaylocks.. giving 1-3 shot kills on splash damage no skill base shot... Just hitting in the general area.. And you start with an automatic height advantage... Just Short sighted and silly. Only way they could balance dropships was to make them expensive and weak defensively..
Dropships should have good defensive capabilities but very limited offensive capabilities unless loaded down wtith people... *who then are still vulnerable to be shot out*
The fact that you can't even shoot out a dropship pilot while they use a weapon on you is silly...
It's taking skill completely out of the equation and making it all about the items... its what is actively killing DUST.... The Noobification of it and the lack of emphasis on player skill anymore. |

I wreck shield vehicles with mine, provide alright fire support against armor vehicles, and sadly...I can kill infantry better with the small rail on my Incubus than I EVER could with a blaster

Not? they have amazing hit detection...
If your reticle is red and they aren't moving fast? you will one shot them... everytime... But it has to be red.. unless a brick heavy then sometimes 2 shots...
They are amazing at vehicle to vehicle fights aswell..
There is no forgiveness with the gun? if that's what you mean? you are either on target or your missing.
The blaster turrets you can make the reticle red... come near point blank and have nearly 50% of the shots not register or do any damage. |

What people haven't used them for yet:
If you don't know, dropship pilots and gunners' skills stack for their turrets. This means that if the pilot and gunner have max assault DS skills the RoFs start to be pretty crazy.
PRO missiles go from 1.2 to .3 RoF or 3.33 shots/s for 1515 DPS and less for splash damage PRO rails go from .5 to .125 RoF for 8 shots/s for 3016 DPS PRO blasters go from .1 to .025 RoF for 1976 DPS
With the incubus blaster's RoF and that DPS, once you stack +20% damage from pilot/gunner and a +30% damage mod or so, those blasters would only need to hit about 10% of their shots to melt stuff in their optimals.
They kinda suck on anything else though. |

Have they confirmed this as a bug? I've invested points in ADS purely to be a good gunner. If anything they need a unique tree that affects gunners only. |

It better be a bug, it's obnoxious otherwise. Missiles and Railguns at max ADS skill are amazing, there is no reason for them to become even better. Besides, it makes no sense for someone else to boost the RoF of your ships guns, one would think that to be a pilot only thing.
I imagine the mix up stems from the fact that -damage- skills stack between gunners and pilots. That's alright, that gives dedicated gunners a little extra edge. They don't need a whole extra blade

as an ADS pilot i think having gunners on an ADS is a waste. a good pilot with a missle turret alone is a great slayer not much else is needed. and the high price of the ADS and all its modules i'd rather not put side turrets on it and sacrifice survivability, nor have goobers on my turrets not capping objectives, i love missle turrets they are beast, railgun turrets are second best but do suffer from minor hit detection issues and i personally dont like the crosshair for it. blasters are poopy juice even with every skill stacked in the game. my signature is old and im not trying to hype myself up to be super awesome but i regularly go 20/30+ kills and 0 deaths per game and even if we still win i sometimes feel a little bad that i wasnt on the ground giving people equipment support or not capping objectives. i cant remember the point of this post as im a little drunk, im not trying to attack anyone or make anybody feel bad. but blasters are poopy juice

small blasters need dispersion (like a HMG, but way tighter), and higher damage towards vehicles.
