this goes out to all the people who constantly spam tanks and camp on roofs. really? do you really have to do that?
do you have such little fun playing this game that you have to resort to never setting foot on the ground, never pushing the objective, never working as a team.
why take the fun out of the game? are you actually having fun camping on the roof and spamming infantry with a blaster tank at the objective? how about everyone gets down to the objective and fights for it!
the players are destroying this game. don't make it no fun for anyone else, we all play this game, stop being so bloody selfish. |

CCP destroyed their own game by making only one way to win the game and that is all tryhards care about. The rest of us have fun with the toys in the game.
It's simple. You are either on a team with proto stompers or you are not. Either way your actions don't mean anything. Let the tryhards win the game. Grab a weapon or vehicle of your choice and have fun.
Yes, the rest of us are having fun. You are pushing the objectives.

The matches are always filled with so many randoms I just don't understand this logic. Even when there is a good squad on the other side they have at least 6-8 randoms that queued solo. It happens quite often that there is only one squad on either side of the match.
At some point, you'd really think people would start to learn that the game favors team play. At least it gives you tools to compound your tactical abilities by being in a squad and using equipment and communication to gain an advantage.
It really doesn't take that much effort to find a group. There are some decent corps out there that have very low recruiting standards.

Our only recruitment prerequisite is to speak/understand italian and still people accuse us of protostomping, go figure.
At a certain point, OP is right. there's no fun in camping. But there's another point, unfortunately. When people plays, first off they want to have fun and at the same time they want to win. So, if your squad is against another squad of another corp, you already know they're going to camp certain strategically important points, so you try to take it first. It's bad level design, not a player's fault.

it honestly feels like what they want the game to play like.
just two masses of people running head long at each other shooting their guns indiscriminately. of course in my imagination every single gun is a standard AR and everyone is in gallente assault suits.
you talk about the way other people play, that honestly sounds like the most boring thing I could possibly imagine. |

I play video games to get away from groups of ppl. This game fits that quite nicely. If I wanted team play I'd go play soccer or chess. I gave up on groups a long time ago because I'd rather move and communicate as much like my time in the military as possible. That isn't really going to happen with most players.

pretty much... DUST has slowly eroded a majority of players drive to "Win" There just wasn't much point in it until FW... and that is such a huge ISK sink to be competitive that the average mercenary doesn't participate..
The drive and passion I had at the start of DUST made me shoot for winning at all costs... Letter needed to be hacked in a hostile area? meh ill do it...
Now? screw that ill just stand around the letter and milk kills until a blueberry comes and hacks it... A redberry will just spawn on my back and kill me before i could defend myself anyway... no matter if I completely cleared the objective several times myself...
Winning in Pub's isn't necessary and will cost you more ISK then its worth currently.. Most tankers, Full time Proto-Users don't care about MCC health or who is going to win because it has little personal bearing on them... We get better results protecting ourselfs not risking for a win and milking kills.
And that is sad... and a huge contributing factor to why DUST isn't "Fun" anymore.... Because winning just doesn't matter.. |

We each play our own game, I suppose.
Though I've only squaded up a handful of times, I don't have anything against it in principle. My issues stem from lack of a mic, the need to wait on the squad leader to (often times cherry) pick battles, and the idea that my team knows any better than I do the most effective strategy for winning a match (ie, I don't take orders well).
There is definitely a camp within the Dust community that believes that Dust is entirely, at its core, about team play; and while I won't deny that team play is an integral part of the game (especially at present), it certainly isn't required to have a good time, or even be effective in battle, making a meaningful contribution. From what I've seen, a lot of the folks that wax righteous about team play are often times the same folks that ***** about playstyles that don't involve running with the frontline. In other words, the game they want is some sort of futuristic version of Braveheart with automatic rifles. I'm trying for Day of the Jackal meets Pulp Fiction.
I have tons of fun playing solo. Getting back-to-back headshot kills against a squad leader his logi with a charge rifle from 400m is super fun. Try it some time!

90% is not 100%. Under the description of Public Contracts, it says "For lone mercs or small squads". Lone mercs have their place.

^WOW! Word for word, thats exactly how I play Dust. Me too i have a corp that i sometimes squad with, but I just cant sync my style of doing things with them. Sometimes I need some serious outfitting time and they are all impatient to go, other times Im impatient to go while they are all on coffee break.
I just wish it was more like playing in squads is something you because you want to, and not because you have to. |

do you have such little fun playing this game that you have to resort to never setting foot on the ground, never pushing the objective, never working as a team.
why take the fun out of the game? are you actually having fun camping on the roof and spamming infantry with a blaster tank at the objective? how about everyone gets down to the objective and fights for it!
the players are destroying this game. don't make it no fun for anyone else, we all play this game, stop being so bloody selfish. All this goes better with beer. I play video games to get away from groups of ppl. This game fits that quite nicely. If I wanted team play I'd go play soccer or chess. I gave up on groups a long time ago because I'd rather move and communicate as much like my time in the military as possible. That isn't really going to happen with most players. I can't use my mic most times anyway because I've got kids shouting and the T.V. blaring. HenceGǪ beer. But you are playing a game that the mechanics are 90% geared toward team play. Then complain when solo isn't rewarding. I believe the definition of insanity fits here.
Lol, where am I complaining about the game not being rewarding? It's the damn people that aren't rewarding. Hence, solo play IS rewarding. I see your insanity and raise you delusional.
Rommel, you magnificent bastard, I read your book!

i dont see getting pinned down by a bunch of freaking rail rifle campers in proto suits as "fun". especially when i only have an hmg and scrambler pistol on me.
so yes. ill bring out a blaster or rail tank and shoot your rail rifle into your face. and with me taking down those rr users. i give my own team the chance to get the objective. |
