With my great love of the minmatar weaponry, and the commando class starting to look like it will finally be as good as it originally sounded, whats the verdict on the minmatar commando? The EHP looks rather low compared to the other suits, for a slight increase in speed, and trying to fit proto kincats with two light weapons seams like a chore, the PG seams a little low for a suit designed to run two light weapons, and a pg expansion is defiantly out of the question with only 1 low slot till proto. I see no option but two shield extenders on the highs, where as a galente or caldari could go for a damage mod with a much greater natural tank with a nice amount of slots for versatility, and seams like it could outclass the minmatar suit even with the explosive weaponry, never mind the blaster tech. Anyone else thinking our beloved rusted duck tape covered dropsuits might be outclassed again? |

For the slower suits though, its a large health decrease for what seams to be a very minimal speed increase |

If your all about standing there all manly, firing multiple loads of plasma goo towards your opponents faces, but speed is nice to get around the back and show them a good time, firing loads into them from every direction. But once you have flanked, just hope no one sees you or things go downhill quickly. To bad the hit and run suits are so bad at regening their tank, or fitting any damage mods to ge more glass cannon. And the commando looks like it wont have the ehp to stand toe to toe or the speed to flank without being seen flopping slowly over the hills in an attempt to close the gap |

If you map out each build based on the current skill tree it only make sense to make the most of the racial bonus. Commando's should be able to out gun assault, scouts, and logi's but should avoid sentinels (racial, bonus can nerf your damage output) and tanks. Having a speed advantage by not stacking armor might be the key to avoiding bad situations as a commando. If you choose a suit with one Hi, it probably should be a damage mod and be sure to pick a suit that matches which weapons you're comfortable with. Don't pick a suit and not use its weapon/racial bonus.
1. Pick a weapon 2. Pick suit to match 3. Use dam mod as Hi slot
If you care to check skill tree 2.0 weapons for more possible options. See, this is the issue I have with that: I like combat rifles, submachine guns, and mass drivers. I mean, I really like them. But I am Gallente. I feel like I should probably be using Gallente suits, in addition to the fact that I like armor tanking. Minmatar suits all seem to give up more survivability than I am comfortable with. Unless assault rifles get a substantial buff, I would feel pigeonholed into either using a suit a don't like or a weapon I don't want. I also very much like sniper rifles, but I suppose that is a different issue. So what do I do? Roll Gallente with Minmatar weapons, thus sacrificing a damage boost? Or run Minmatar and be irritated about my lack of ehp?
Glad you get my point :P. I'm all to familiar with the lower hp of minmatar suits as they are all I run, but with a medium frame you can make it work with the increased speed, It's just when you then go to an inherently slower suit type that the trade off becomes more of an issue |

Or run Minmatar and be irritated about my lack of ehp? Here is another thing with Dust, people think if they don't use their racial bonuses then they are wasting the suit. The racial bonuses are there if you want to be highly specialized, but nothing is forcing you to use it. All suits are getting the class bonus which you can use with a wide array of things. Don't think 25% faster reloading means anything? Think again, it's pretty huge. So go ahead and use a combat rifle and mass driver with a Gallente Commando if you wish, you'll still be able to fire both weapons with minimal downtime while reloading.
I would agree with you if we are talking about the suit bonuses that we have now, but with the potential to have a built in complex damage mod on the suit, the bonuses are now becoming a bigger factor to the suits and there is a lot of potential missed out if say you run two weapons both in the same class then don't use the suit that would give the damage bonus |

The MD is getting a huge buff as i read somewhere, so you'll be great for area denial and keeping the enemy away. You shouldn't worry about HP. If they start advancing too much, you'll have a decent speed to retreat.
Ahh the mass driver, a weapon I love the idea behind, but like hell can I hit anything. Shotty and CR works nicely with the speed, too bad I only have advanced and I love my kin cat to much for a rep |
