That and the amarr tangled with the Jove once and got their **** smacked pretty bad.

From what I understand it was actually the confluence of the Jove victory + Gallente meddling + Minmatar rebellion that kept the shackles from the Jove. I don't know the exact proportions, but only a small number of ships were destroyed. The battle was a catastrophic loss, but my understanding is that the damage was mostly dealt to morale. They took traditionally manned and crewed ships up against capsuleers. They got utterly smashed. It was 200 ships on the amarr side which was unbelievably huge for the time, vs an unknown amount of Jovian frigates and a single Jove mothership. It was called the battle of vak'atioth.

Well, I sure run into super grouped Red Star. fighting for Amarr pretty much every day now. Between that and Cub and the Cub Scouts, the Amarr are winning battles pretty consistently at night.
