Why cant Dust have AI controlled people? Other FPS like Titanfall have it. Then you dont need as many players to fill a match and it also makes new players feel good by getting some kills against AI players that are easier to kill. I am talking about matches with half AI players and the other half human players. |

I'd rather not have AI characters who will just get in the way, rather have actual people on th other side even if they are using proto at least they won't be running against the wall or doing a disco dance in the middle of a street.

I personally would not mind at all (had no problem with it in Section 8: Prejudice), but if we had working decent AI, then we would have PVE by now. The "hardcore" competitive gungame people would likely strongly appose bots in PVP battles.

AI soldiers is something I've always felt would improve the sense of immersion. In particular with driving home the idea that we're genetically engineered super-soldiers. There's currently no frame of reference to show how we're carrying weapons so powerful that they would kill someone who tried to fire them without wearing the appropriate armor. At the very least this should be part of a PvE mode.
I think if bots were to be introduced outside of PvE it should be limited to FW and *maybe* highsec skirmishes. They wouldn't make much sense in domination or ambush, and absolutely should not be involved in PC unless they can be worked into a PC revamp in a way that makes sense. ie: a mode where defenders start inside their own base, and have their own non-cloned personnel inside the base manning turrets etc. Ideally bots would be some kind of upgrade or resource on the district that gets depleted and need to be paid for. |

Actually, if we do get relatively easy bots in PVP, it could considerably soften the NPE. Anyway, its beyond what is possible right now, or we would already have PVE.

I would love to see AI applied to a more openworld medium for the game. Of course certain contracts would be PVP ( humans only, no AI ) but right now I feel more like a jarhead ( no offense, thank you for your service ) than a mercenary. I get thrown into meat grinder after lobby meat grinder wherever Scotty tells me to go and don't have a way to properly fund any kind of real private enterprise.
I really like the idea of star system security level based "friendly" fire and AI settings with more diverse objectives and "business opportunities". If this creates farming situations, just make sure that particular mechanic strengthens the connection between EVE and Dust and scale the payouts and events when necessary to keep lobbies rolling.
If a squad of mercs could defend a rorqual ( or player deployed mining structure / fleet ) from AI pirates ( / opposing corp / combination therof ) for their Eve counterparts to get a marginal yield increase for their haul, we'd have OB's all day long.
Bug hunts, outpost defense (survival style), bounty missions ( for hard AI targets )... There's so much potential for this game's connection to New Eden!
TLDR: The contract system should feel more like the kind of bill posting that a spacehardened hunterkiller would check for jobs. AI can help |

There needs to be game modes where this exists. Certain levels of difficulty would set the tone of that game and could be manipulated based on your preference. This would be extremely beneficial to new players who don't understand the game's mechanics as well as we do, and this type of gameplay would be better than the insufficient academy which kicks you out really quickly.

It would increase the feel of immersion. Right now it's just supersoldier v supersoldier. Why would companies not hire standard troops, or have standard security. We immortals should be hired to bolster their standard troops. Maybe just if Factional warfare, have standard troops defend objectives that have been captured, or in highsec pubs have standard security guard the teams closest Null cannon to their Friendly MCC.

Ha! You're doin great Test, keep up the good example
It should be easy to tell (by contract) whether you might be facing AI or just meatberries; some would be like current contracts, PVP only; some where it's 4 human squads fighting AI, co-op; and some mixed where you may be helped or hindered by AI as you compete against another team. Another contract type may have no "teams" and mercs can ally or backstab as they are willing to risk to navigate AI (and maybe AI ally) infested territories hiding oddities and curios.
The AI difficulty should be tied to security level and standing like in EVE...
Run across a random patch of drones? - take a contract and hunt them 'til you find their nest (where the really deadly drones are) - kick them over while they're sleeping and laugh at their droid-moos - wake them up and take bets with your squadmates on whether YOUR drones can take them - camp them until some rat hunters come along, then gank the hunters
Of course, if you pick the last one in high sec carebare land , The local authorities will quickly escort you to a new clone
But the idea of the game getting more dangerous ( from AI and other players ) as you venture into lower security systems would REALLY give it a mercenary feel. The trick is making some sort of logistical system where it matters more how you fit in region of New Eden that you're in, and what sort of mercenary work there is to do there.
Right now, there is no context to the "contracts" that would make you choose one or another. FW is getting closer, but in EVE you can move with a fleet and feel like you're gaining or losing territory as you move through systems. In Dust, currently, you just bounce around and fill lobbies |

Why add AIs to FW? Because FW is the empires fighting a war against each other. We're mercenaries in that conflict, not the regular forces. We're there to tip the odds. Also because it makes you look and feel like the superhuman you are. |

There was a game that did this very well, that everyone here should remember: Star Wars Battlefront. Not the AI on the opposite side, I mean the AI of the Tusken Raiders on the Pit of Sarlacc map. They shot at both side, and the Gungans on the Naboo side, who shot at the droids. Just do something similar here.

Just do something similar here. Ah... Star Wars: Battlefront (I & II); the nostalgia. <3 Honestly, the reason I came to play this game was because I was looking for something to fill that void.
I was more referring to the SWB II AI that would follow you, hold on, move out, etc. It wouldn't even have to be anything complex, just give me a command to put the AI units on my wings like in SWB II and I'm golden (however; having them use cover would be much appreciated).
