It only matters as long as pub matches and FW are all most of the player base has to do in this lobby shooter and as long as certain players have an unlimited source of ISK compared to all others. When the few can withstand the ire of the entirety of the rest of the player base than the EVE like emergent gameplay will never exist in Dust
Most tankers are like sand people. They frighten easily, but will quickly return...and in greater numbers.

I do (several in fact), and tiercide helped those game out a lot. Every example of tiericide I've read about on these forums or bantered about with friends still had some sort of difference with more sp, maybe less difference but still there. now if you have no difference with sp how is this game different than any other shooter? All MMOs have advantages given due to experience. Most solve this discrepancy by having different levels of activities to coincide with level of a character. I understand EVE does this with high sec, null sec, etc... Thus I think completely flattening things makes Dust less unique and the solution is to give "high level players" more to do than pub stomp and give new players away to catch up to vets (PvE and roll over SP caps are examples of ways to do this). End game activities that aren't stupid and broken for vets
(typed on phone so please forgive any mistakes/horrid grammar)

End game activities that aren't stupid and broken for vets (typed on phone so please forgive any mistakes/horrid grammar) I think nowGǪ 3 different pub contracts for low-,high- and null sec with different ISK payout. This way good players will run null sec pubs with the biggest ISK payout, low sec for the etcGǪ. Sure protos can still run high sec but thats the MMORPG side of the game. I believe CCP thought they did that with pubs, FW, and PC. But PC is broken (district lockdown must be removed, timer 0.5-1 hour before battle) in FW no one notice the ISK-LP balance and that it was meant for Qsync ( something like corp battles but inside the eve story).
Yeah Faction can not be "low sec" at the moment because without a player market and no ISK payout most people have to run Pub matches to pay for their FW. PC doesn't work as "null sec" because of the reasons you listed and there is no room there for the independent contractor or 5 guys who are friends in a small corp together but have a ton of SP. I like the lowered timer, we also need some tools like Eve has (I think) where a toon and/or players reputation or something could be tracked. If you have only an hour to scrape together a team but had a place where you can find reliable mercs outside your corp to help you fight....that would be a better "endgame" IMO

Even the most hardcore of MMOs ....EVE online has a safer place for noobs to become less noobish unless I am mistaken

If people are willing to coming hundreds of thousands of ISK to win a fight, and get kills then they are entitled to it.
Walking armour crying because you want to use basic gears as you want is not a good enough reason to tell people they cannot use what they earnt.
I flew a Coercer the other day through FW space. I got jumped by a couple of Jaguars. They are to my Coercer what Proto is to Basic.
I didn't cry.
Because that's just how New Eden is.
The difference is you CHOSE to fly through FW space bro, just like in any MMO you can choose to go to the high level dungeon or PvP area if you don't care about dying. Now I don't care about proto users much, if it bothered me I can through proto right back, however, the 20 mil plus player is not my concern when it comes to this debate. Right now the new player doesn't have a choice and not enough rats to slay before he gets thrown in against us vets. To be successful and grow this game needs to embrace some MMO ideas. I think a big part of the solution is PvE, more specialized game modes, player market, vastly improved PC. Matchmaking is basically a band aid while we are still a lobby shooter.
