Get gud. Its not the gear, its the tactics
This is an all out fantasy. The reason we have SP in this game is to gain advantages over players that have it used elsewhere or less of it. SP = better player, because it gives you skill edges over an opponent.
If proto gear wasn't better, then why would anyone use it?
On the other side of the coin. Tactics and teamwork are the center of this game. If you run with 5 elite players, you can run around in the most worthless fit you can create and probably still do rather decent. Can you really blame the players for playing how the game was intended to be played; no matter how flawed it is?
And before you come on here saying "I own protos with militia gear, blah blah, blah..." Ask yourself how much SP you have in weapons and core skills?
Protostomping is the biggest problem in this game and eventually will lead to its complete downfall if not addressed.

Don't say E-Sports, man.
Its called competitive gaming. Only MLG's marketing push made up the term "e-sport".
There is no such thing as an "e-sport'.
DUST will never be a competitive shooter for the obvious reasons, but CCP's surety for failure aside; this game isn't built to be equally competitive... and quite frankly, its to depth filled for people to sit and watch it.
Short match chaos simplicity is what competitive craves.
