In 1.8, we are to receive the fabled Racial Suits of all races that many believe should have been here at the start of release. Currently, we have for Equipment
Minmatar: Remote Explosives, Repair Tools, Gallente: Active Scanners, Caldari: Nanite Injectors, Nanohives Amarr: Drop Uplinks
It is time to flesh these out, since Dust is as much about what you do when not shooting other people as shooting other people. This post is to throw around some potential ideas. I would like at least Three Equipment minimum for each race, so a Proto Logi could be a fully racial logi, keeping with Lore and making people happy.
Minmatar are run-gun flankers. Remotes are for bailing out, rep tools for helping wounded comrades. To fit in more with their people, I would suggest something along the lines of a turret. Deployable, but lightweight and relatively weak. Capable of fending off one flanking attacker who has no flux grenades, but outmatched against a party.
Gallente would have to have something to take out Caldari tech, so I would suggest the deployable shields for them, since they are slower, and stay out in the open longer. I have no idea what their third piece of tech would be...
Caldari need to stay hidden from Scanners of their enemy, so I would suggest their third piece of equipment be the largely requested Jammer. There would be three types: Personal, Retrievable, and Hackable. The jammer would scramble any scans or equipment in the area, with each level capable of scrambling different levels of tech. For example: an uplink dropped within the vicinity of a scanner would have its spawn time increase a great deal, say 50% at basic, 100% advanced, 200% at proto. To prevent spam, Jammers run on a battery equal to the amount of equipment around.
Personal Jammers: Like Profile Dampeners, but best for scouts since they scramble all equipment they run by that's hostile. Dye to the nature of the tech however, it can't be used with a Cloak. It's battery is 2 minutes. Each additional hostile equipment in its vicinity decreases this time by 10 seconds. Hence, 12 or more pieces of equipment, and the personal jammer is outmatched. The downside of using this is once the battery is destroyed, the Jammer sends out an EMP that fries the shields of the user, and destroys all equipment within its radius (15 meters)
Retrievable: Can be dropped for taking an objective, and then picked back up. Yes, the only equipment we can pick back up in Dust! They do the same as Personal Jammers, but their radius is greater (25 meters instead of 15). These Jammers also instantly destroy hostile equipment that is used, or cause it to overheat in the case of Active Scanners. Each pulse that it sends out however drains its battery life 2 mins at basic, 4 at advanced, 7 at proto, by half a minute. So a proto Jammer can destroy 14 pieces of equipment, or negate 14 active scans.
Hackable: Once Dust gets the Off-Map Support thing going down, one Installation is to be the Jam Tower, which negates a massive area of the map from equipment spam. It runs on a massive, self-sustaining battery, but is able to be hacked, and its frequency seek out hostile equipment. To spice it up, only Squad Leaders will have access to changing the frequency, and it can look for specific equipment. To keep it from being OP, other Jammers can this tower, but only if used in conjuction, and only for a limited time.
I feel like E-Warfare would be a great addition to Dust, and create some nice other Meta-games.
Amarr: They are very Combat-focused, so I would say Heavy Combat Drones as equipment, similar to the Owl in Killzone: Shadowfall. It sits on your shoulder, and only patrols that side of your body. Hence, you can still engage Amarr soldiers from the front without extra backup, and you can still ambush them from behind. They also will have a blind-side, but their OWL is alarm the user if it spots you, and will deploy a shield on the side you placed it until you can turn to confront the threat. The shield has 500 HP
It's other equipment is a Heat Shield. This equipment integrates into a shield, and only comes into effect when Feedback damage occurs. It does not increase the health of shields. Laser weapons will still seize up, but people will suffer less damage, and at the Proto level, no feedback damage, but rather a recharge to shields as it converts the heat into energy.
So my idea for 1.9 or 2.0 equipment for all the races is as follows:
Minmatar: Sentry, Repair Tool, and Remote Explosives Amarr: HCD (Heavy Combat Drone), Heat Shield, and Drop Uplinks Caldari: Nanite Injectors, Nanohives, and Jammers Gallente: Active Scanners, perhaps Passive Scanners or something like Active Modules that can be turned on or off?, but definitely deployable shields.
Thoughts?
I am the reason you rage-quit =D

1: Gallente does drones, and even then, it wouldn't be equipment; that makes little sense, as you wouldn't be able to do much with 1 drone.
2: That heat shield thing is silly, as Amarr mostly armor tanks; it wouldn't help it much (unless you're brick tanking, in which case you're a idiot). Deployable barricades would be better.
3: lolwut? Gallente is speedy, not slow, (see the vehicles and light frames, as well as pretty much every ship in EVE). They'll shoot you and get back into cover, then come back at you with already full health. Also, we already got passive scanners; every suit does. That's useless.
Try again.
EDIT: Also, Caldari will have cloaks come 1.8.
'lights cigar' fuck with me, and I'll melt your face off. Gallente forever!
Blup Blub Bloop. Translation: Die -_-

1. Makes sense. I have no understanding of EvE and Lore, apologies. 2. I see many Caldari and other people incinerating themselves after a firefight with the Scrambler Rifle and suiciding. They may want this Heat shield to help them. Deployable cover is amazing though, I like that.
3. If someone is running around with over 900 armor, I'm sorry but you are going to be pretty slow. As for the Passive Scanning, I meant more along the lines of a Active modules like Armor Hardeners or something. I phrased that wrong.
4. Cloaks will still light you up if scanned. Jammers neutralize hostile equipment, making cloaks all the more deadly.
I may be Minmatar, but I will hold that ridge until victory, or I become one with the sand. Long live my battle brothers
