Ok, with the tension of the upcoming 1.8 i've decided to do a fun discussion (As says in the Title).
i'll start off with the faction i support & why:
Amarr - Reason for it is because they are benevolent spiritual civilization & was the first founding civilization than the other 3, they were first to travel to the cosmos and colonized planets.
Another reason is they look awesome & majestic :) |

Reason: Never played Eve and all I had to go on is the one paragraph description when you create a Dust character. From that only Gallente seemed to be non-psychopathic. |

Level 7 for Minmatar here with 80,000+ LP and a huge cache of the Republic Boundless Repair Tools. Its for the Repair Tools.
Also Level 5 (almost 6) with 25,000+ LP for the inaccurately priced Federation Duvolle Active Scanner (the Gallente exclusive one) being priced as the "Aurum equivalent" (75LP) while that one is 150LP.
xSivartx is my Heavy. There are many like him, but he is my own...
So, other Logi's back off, those are my Warpoints!

The Minmatar for 3 main reasons:
Lore
I love the lore of the Minmatar. They were enslaved and broke free and have become a resilient people. While of course I wasn't enslaved into a life of servitude like they were, I was in my own way to another master. I like that they keep their own tribal identity but act as one against the other races.
Tech
Before I even knew they were Matari tech, I used the MD, repper and R.E extensively, and for much of my time playing DUST I used the SEVER BPO. I love all the tech, especially the Combat Rifle and SMG. I also like the look of all the suits and weapons, especially the CR.
Battlefield mantra
Skirmish and subterfuge tactics are traits of the Matari. As a fan of Sun Tzu's art of war, this mantra suits me perfectly. Playing as a Matari scout is the ultimate expression of my tactical mindset.

Everybody in EVE is psychopathic, it's just a question of in what manner in manifests.
For the books though: I am pro-Gallente. I enjoy their brawler style combat and the robust nature of their society.
If I had a second pick though I would go Amarr. All their stuff looks sleek and sexy plus I like the religious nature of their society. |

Caldari because I like a challenge not pushing the redline within the first 3 minutes (Minmatar and Gallente) The fights are often against the scrubby try hard corps and various people who are looking for easy fights against a load of newbies (Caldari FW is often a bloodbath), they can be pretty intense but you can be sure there always going to be some good fights.
Also our alliance often runs Caldari FW in EVE so we always have orbital support where and when we need it.
Oh and dont forget the State Nanite Injector that revives 100%!

Personally I fight for Minamtar because they suit my style - never attack head on. Run away from a fight

Caldari, because i like meritocracy (democracy is dead and in time where we should put whole power in to progress, there is no place for any populistic support of anyone, who dont need or dont like progress), its easy.
Last few day i thinking about start from scratch for minmatar, but i still dont find any similarities with my nature.
Maybe in future.

Because of the people, not the government. If the Federation came to me and asked me to do a mission on behalf of the Gallente people, and they're believable, I would lend my hand wherever.
I'm sympathetic to all races, but my people are my people. Of course I appreciate the Minmatar and their culture, and being that many of the Minmatar are melded into our culture pot, I understand them better than the others. I like most of the Amarr people and their benevolent ways although I'm constantly worried how fast some of them will react when they realize I don't worship their entity. And the Caldari...? Despite what they teach us and how many racists politics try to push, I don't think they're bad. Hell, I fell in love with a Caldari woman back before I got my implants. The many Caldari I have met have an issue with cutting loose even in casual situations and that's my only peeve with them  .

Reason: The first democratic republic of New Eden. Social liberties. Generally the nicest of the group. Though we did bombard the Caldari home world from orbit after we took out the Shiigeru. Also the Caldari helped found the Republic but split off from the Federation. |

"Intolerant of closed societies" - aka 'we're going to free the **** out of you! Even if you don't want it!'. The gallente are one of the fastest to commit atrocities for no real reason - they're just a bit better at hiding it because they need to keep voter polls high.
They're not as bad as the minmatar who are disorganized, listless and ineffectual when it comes to anything that isn't 'f*ck the amarr'.
Personally I'm a big caldari supporter because it is a meritocracy and the corporations take care of their own - even going so far as to find suitable marriage partners should you say 'I want to get married'.
I also have a soft spot for amarran zealotry, and matari spite. |

You should probably read up a bit more on that, the gallente did a whole lot for the 'greater good' which really meant 'were going to undermine the caldari, the mannar and the intaki for the greater good of the gallente'. As the caldari said when they announced their succession "we do not need you to tell us how to be caldari" and what did the gallente do? Went and forcibly tried to prevent the caldari from leaving. |

I am a Gallente by birth but I am a mercenary by trade. I don't follow a faction because I only care about the ISK. I like the Gallante and their ways but I am not tied to them. I enjoy Amarr tech because of lasers and the look and I am a armor man. When/if the suit bonuses change there is a good chance I will start pushing whatever suit has a rep bonus I like. I do it for the fat kids.

My first character was actually gallente, but I switched to minmatar because a bunch of friends of mine were minmatar.
I think I actually prefer minmatar now, with both the lore and their combat philosophy
