I would like to ask some things about EvE Orbitals, because I want to change my EvE gameplay from standing grinding (Getting a PoS close it Jita) into FW, because the whole corp standing is almost at 7.0 to caldari.
So now that i did some research on FW orbitals, i found it some things that are not 100% clear for me:
1) Where is the Dust FW going on? I know that there is a list of EvE Highsec systems that have Dust going on, while I wonder if the FW also has some core Systems or if the FW is only in contested Systems or on a random planet in the FW area
2)When i log my ship to a district, then i would be visible for anyone in the system and i would be a direct "warp to", right? Can i place a "Mobile Large Warp Distruptor" to use it like warp-bubble in Nullsec?
3) How many ships can target a district? The 3min Timer seems a bit long for me, since i have to go there and then i would have to wait as well. Only one orbital per 3min seems a bit low

I know.. but i hope that CCP one day will start to find out that "checking all 4 races at the start" is not that good, since the noobs will end in the Q of the unterplayed caldari/amarr FW.
I want to play for caldari but if i only win 1 out of 10 games to armour tanking, damage mod stacking, in FW gear walking gallente, then i think its time for me to orbital them for some nice killmails

I'm quite new to orbitals as well, but I'll try to answer to the best of my knowledge.
1. Same area as EVE FW (low sec). I believe dust battles are generated based on EVE plexing.
2. Yes (have lost a few ships this way), and don't know for the second question.
3. 10 ships I believe, but the number of ships will not speed up the timer. Only one can fire though, but all get LP (to some degree). 3min is not as long as you think. I dropped 5 orbitals one game (that's quite some LP)

Placid, Citadel, Essence, Verge Vendor and Black Rise house the Caldari-Gallente FW, while Devoid, Bleak Lands, Heimatar and Metropolis contain Amarr-Minmatar FW. You can see the combat zones here.

Mobile Warp Disruptors, aka. warp bubbles can only be placed in nullsec. As all of FW is in lowsec, you can not use that to defend yourself while dropping orbitals.
Havaru Fox wrote:3) How many ships can target a district? The 3min Timer seems a bit long for me, since i have to go there and then i would have to wait as well. Only one orbital per 3min seems a bit low Only one ship can fire at a district at a time, but there can be several on the area. If an enemy ship comes into the range of the orbital drop area, the timer for dropping an orbital is stopped until either one of the ships leaves or is destroyed.

I know about the FW area: http://evemaps.dotlan.net/map/Caldari_VS_Gallente I was more asking about the way to find the dust mercs.
so far i see two ways: 1)warping from system to system and when i find mercs in local, then i scan for the orbital thing and warp to it. 2)be part of a alliance where someone with a keyboard will tell me where i have to go 3)public channel, while gallente could also see the calls from caldari mercs
thinking that "way 1" would be the way to go i was hoping that there is a way to limit the amount of choices.

aww crap... i just got myself small, med and large for ~150mil and was thinking that "banned from empire space" is only highsec.
but if the beacon is there warp to, how far can i be away from the beacon, when i orbit it?
Denak Kalamari wrote: Only one ship can fire at a district at a time, but there can be several on the area. If an enemy ship comes into the range of the orbital drop area, the timer for dropping an orbital is stopped until either one of the ships leaves or is destroyed.
i wanted to know how many ships can target the district to get the 3min timer (so there can be more then one orbital in 3min).
machs starts after 5 min i find the mercs 2mins later i'm at the district 3mins later i can send my first orbital
so 10min from only one ship is very low (since the matches are not that long), but if more then one ship can target the district then it would be fine. i think Regis Blackbird with10 ships had the answer

I think you need to be within 7km orbit to stay connected to the sat. Personally, I would stick to systems that have a lot of planets as most people arent looking for districts when they scan down a system. I know it sounds like a scrub move but I would have at least one stab on your destro and a safe spot in each system to warp out to.

Sadly 1 is not an option. The mercs do not change local when fighting, so the only time you see dust mercs in local is in high sec where we have our home bases.
2. Is the way to go if you don't have a custom channel with queue syncing squads. Even then it's a little tricky.

Well, sorry to disappoint you again You can have 10 ships connected to the districts, but you still get 1 orbital each 3min in total. But if you have 9 buddies you don't have to worry about warp disrupters |

If he was part of a fleet then I would agree but it sounds like he is trying to solo OB. Unless he has a Coercer that can insta-swap ammo then he is a dead duck if he gets tackled.

true that is
I was thinking just thinking about:
a) how do i find them b) how do i make my orbital withile having a chance the warp out (if there are hostiles in local that come in)
i was now also thinking about a "mobile scan inhibitor", while i find 15mil to "save" a destroyer a bit much. But for the killbord i will think about it. lets see if my ship has 100m-¦ cargo for that inhib.
maybe its time to find a caldari FW alliance that has interesst in dust FW and orbitals. i also have to read up on the effekt behind the dust FW and the EvE FW, while i look forward to the future of dust and EvE in general.
so far i got 5 eve chars doing T2 produktion for jita (2 accs and didnt pay for it since A LONG time). now that i made so much money with industry and incursions its about time to get a golden pod and show it out by losing ships in FW. i just have to find a way to get into this orbital thing, because that is the most awesome thing that i can think about since the did hear about the oculus rift.

Hate to break it to you, but a mobile scan inhibitor won't help you either. The only thing the inhibitor does is hide what ship or ships are at a particular spot. On one of my overviews, I have districts checked off which means that when I enter a system that can potentially have someone doing an orbital I can warp directly to it.
When I run a d-scan towards the district beacon I can tell what ships are there, if you have an inhibitor up my d-scan will show nothing but the inhibitor, but I would know someone is there, would just be a matter of how many might be there. |

thats the reason why i would put it there.
1) drop inhibitor 2) lock the district
if one person comes into the system and more then one person from my FW is in the system, then he will not warp to me, because he could warp into more then one person.
3) wait till the timer is at 0:10 4)change to Orbital and fire it 5)profit
i dont fear single frigs if i see a cruiser on D-Scan (can not be covert ops if not SOE or T3,right?) then i warp away if i see a destroyer i can 1on1 him if i dont see anything then its a stealthbomber and i can blow him up ---
while this is just theory and i will lose my destroyer on the way to the system and give a happy killmail with a 15mil scan inhibitor in my cargo

When me and my squad play, we win ~%80 of our matches in caldari FW.
Amarr FW however, we gave up on. |

If you are inside the radius of the inhibitor, your d-scan will not work either, so you won't know whats about to land on you, but I will tell you that if anyone wants to get you bad enough at a district they will.
Not sure how much you PVP, but I know a lot of people that could solo your destroyer in a frig. |

One problem with that. You can't D-scan out of the scan inhibitor's cover, it blocks it. You need to be outside of its effect radius to be able to D-scan.
Oh well, saves you 15mil.

That's easy. Go to Dust's starmap. Check which districts are owned by Caldari.

Pretty much what he said ^ If you want to solo OB for Caldari, this is the way to go
And trust me, apply the "Dust mentality" and stock up on cheap destroyers... You are going to loose them. Do not waist 15mil by hauling expensive cargo / equipment to a war zone.

Trip X99 wrote: Not sure how much you PVP, but I know a lot of people that could solo your destroyer in a frig.
I dont PvP at all, because i found it pointless to fly in 0.0 fleets to look for a fight for hours after a long day of work.
my EvE history:
Started as Gallente and ent into a corp that was in FW, while i was a noob at this point and was just planing to join there fleets. They left FW and went to nullsec, while i had a hard time to follow the fleet in a T1 fit without the core skills to support my ship. i got bored and left to do industry again, because i had way more fun in highsec before we went to null.
after some time of retriever produktion the patch came and i made 4bil in one week, while the marked was gone i had to look for something new and since i didnt had the corp PoS anymore i started to grind gallente standing and got my standing for a second NPC corp up to 8.0 (because i was thinking that my jumpclone dies and i need to make a new one anytime i die...).
the Gallente FW corp wanted me to train into amarr logi, since i wanted to play logi and a carrior is to far away for me, so i got amarr cruiser5 but i never made it into the fleets and FW, because i was scared to leave highsec alone and wanted to save the money that i couldnt make that easy anymore, since my marked was gone.
i left the gallente corp after i "saw day of darkness 2" http://youtu.be/yXWf-l71MY4 ,because my picture of EvE was destroyed after gallente using amarr ships in FW and the style was gone and i also did start to find out that blasters suck for PvE.
i made my caldari alt and started incursions and used dualtraining to get my caldari alt and standing to caldari, to build my PoS. made a second acc and got myself a invention char and did build up 5 chars now to do T2 produktion. ---
i see dust514 as my way into PvP, because i now see a reason to risk a ship, because i get more LP then, while i need one more month before my caldari char can 100% fly the ships that i want to use in PvP, because i dont want to use my gallente char (dont want to go under 2.0 gallente, because maybe one day i will leave FW.. you never know what you will do in the future...)
goals for 2014: move the PoS to a 0.7 system next to jita getting into FW (maybe a alliance with a dust team, so i can play in squats or support them with orbitals)
over all.. burn the ISK that i get from my T2 produktion after plexing my 2 acc's, since i dont see a carrior in 0.0 as a solid option to keep my T2 produktion online without leaving my corp and losing 10 manufacturing slots that give me a passive income of 100mil per week just to be forced into long CTA's and farming NPC's to make up for my "lost" isk (in FW i also have more time for dust)
