Why in the world would you let a 7 year old play a game that is this violent?
This.
But also, it depends on your definition of "playing the game." I would imagine most of the forum-ites here define "playing the game" as killing enemy clones and hacking/holding objectives. Not running away from the fight to drop uplinks and reap the rewards when your team gets wrecked.
That said, if it is a true story, then kudos to your son. I suppose by your definition of "playing the game" he's even better than you.
(Though it does crack me up a little bit...because that's exactly what I do to grind ISK...jump into an Ambush, run squad-less, and drop uplinks all over the map. Oh, and hope that my team gets crushed so my teammates spawn on them. My record thus far is just over 425k ISK) |

It aggravates me that I can't get as many WP as he can. 4. I refer to players who lose matches, was not singling out anyone. 5. If you think his score is anything special, than you would positively not want to see his older sister play. She's 14 and can beat every boy in her class at COD, which is leaps and bounds harder than DUST due to its very short TTK. Any QQ after 1.8 and I am deploying Cassie to New Eden to really give scrubs something to cry about.

Sorry, that is harsher than it should be. He's doing great for a 7 year old I guess. But a lot of experienced adult players farm in the same way. Surely you realize it ruins matches for everyone?
I don't see how it ruins a match for anyone. It gives the team getting wrecked a way out of the killbox and makes the winning team work slightly harder for it.
Saying it "ruins matches" seems a bit melodramatic, don't you think? Or am I missing a key point? |

Do you really enjoy games where your team is equipment spamming or camping on roofs, rather than pushing the objectives?
Actually, no...but I do choose to make the best of it and get some WP when it happens.
Quote: EDIT - And has it occurred to you that maybe one team is dominating precisely because the other team isn't trying? A full squad of protostompers is nothing compared to 16 mid-SP level, mid-skill level players that are actually willing to push the objectives. Unfortunately that isn't very common.
Yes, as a matter of fact it has. I start every Ambush that I play in my assault suit with a R-9 drop uplink. I run around and drop my two uplinks at the best places I can reach in a minute or less, and then look for a fight. After a few minutes it is generally clear that my team will crush the other team, that we are going to get wrecked, or that it will be a close fight. I wait until the outcome appears reasonably clear before I stop putting up a fight and start spamming uplinks. If it is going to be close or we are going to win, I keep on fighting. But when the other team is camping the spawns and my team's general routine consists of spawn-die-spawn-die-spawn-die, then I start spamming uplinks and garner some WP. Typically in the range of 2-3k (depending on if it's a 50 or 80 clone game).
So yes, I agree with you wholeheartedly. Also for the record, I only do that during Ambush. Domination and Skirmish are two modes where I push objectives every game, for the whole game. Every time. If that matters to you. |
